Small, compact and perfect for a small boat or kayak. I thought that the 1.5 pound would be too light for securing our boat but it did the job on a windy day, and the storage bag that it comes in is a huge plus. I bought it for my Kayak and ended up giving it to my husband for his boat. Easy to use and deploy!! Great investment!!

Great small boat anchor for Pelican Predator 103 fishing boat

I was really impressed with this anchor and loved its heavy duty construction, the way it folded up, and because it was a sleek piece of kit that would be easy to stow and deploy on my Pelican Bassraider 10E boat.The problem with this anchor is that it is too good at anchoring. I was in 15-20ft of water and deployed the anchor. It immediately grabbed onto something at the bottom and even though the wind was blowing hard, the boat was staying anchored. I went to pull up anchor and it was stuck. So stuck that I ended up losing it the very first time I tried it. It was like throwing $30.00 away into the lake. The hooks got stuck on a submerged log and they actually dug into the log and would not release. This anchor would be decent on a kayak or raft on a river where you can reach down 3-4 ft and grab it. Otherwise, you will quickly lose this anchor like I did. A round design with holes in in would be much more effective than this folded hook design, which will easily get caught up.

Anchor was perfect. It held the boat well while we were fishing. Cord was long enough but not too long to get tangled. A plus was the ring to hold the blades up while using it in high weed areas.

Useless weight! Drop and move freely! I’ve tried numerous types of conditions aside from actually swimming deep and covering this thing with gigantic rocks. The concept should work, but it doesn’t always open up on its own, I must loosen each arm to open up before lowering.

Good anchor; however, with only 20ft of line it is good for anchoring in about 5 to 6ft of water. You will need 75 to 100 ft of line to use this for any normal boating situation in a deeper bay or coastal offshore fishing. I also recommend adding 4 to 6 ft of 1/4 galvanzide anchor rode for a correct system.

**Updated review after 1 year:This is my second anchor. I lost the 1st one stuck in a rock. I strongly recommend using a zip tie on the anchor as shown on picture. Attaching the rope at the lower part of the anchor and installing a zip tie at the upper part. This way when pulling it when jammed on a rock it will detach itself easier. Go on Youtube and search for “Zip Tie kayak anchor how to”. It will save you lots of trouble and $.I used this anchor over 10 times already, both on my canoe and standing paddle board while fishing. It stays on the water floor quite nicely. I wouldn’t recommend using on heavy current rivers, but for minimal current this portable anchor is perfect for my fishing excursions.

I used the 3lb anchor to tether 2 inflatable kayaks fully loaded with 2 people in each and it held us well in wavy conditions. Planning on using it to hold my inflatable floating raft out off shore while we are using it. So far so good.

It was securing a kayak... 2-3 inch waves broke the line????And you can see the rope was not cut, but broke....CHEAP JUNK.

Bought this anchor for my husband and it's the perfect gift. It has the perfect size and weight for kayak fishing. It holds the position in the water which helps control your cast direction. I highly recommend this product.
