Buy this album. It's awesome!
Watsky is great! He is one of the most verbally gifted people I've ever heard. I've been listening to rap since 1984, and I have listened to many flavors of it. Mainstream rap is really tired, but there are some excellent and creative rappers out there if you look around for something with some substance to it. Watsky really stands out; he is different from everybody else, but what he does definitely works and he really delivers everything that you want (if you're not a drone that listens to Drake, Lil Wayne, and 50 Cent). The beats are great, and he even has a really talented band to back him up that offers jazz and funk and some horns to give you something extra. He can rap at a relaxed tempo, or he can rap blazingly fast with superb articulation and a precise flow. This album isn't going to give you your daily gangsta fix, but it's full of realness. He raps about things like being poor, working hard, struggling with what life gives you, our stupefying obsession with hand-held electronic devices, and many other things. He delivers it all with humor, wit, sarcasm, and all kinds of other devices. The bottom line is that if you love rap, and/or if you want something different with an excellent production, lyrics with substance, ridiculously skillful delivery, and something that will make you smile from ear to ear through the entire album, you'll definitely want to add this to your collection.

It is not something that I would normally have picked up, but I am glad I stumbled into it
I wish there were not as much profanity, only because I have a teen son who loves this guy. I mean he is probably a little more PG than Eminem, but still, all the MF bombs etc are the only thing that make it more of a private jam than a public one. If they can't broadcast it on the radio, it limits the exposure and I cuss like a sailor myself, but you have to know when its appropriate to get away with that. Obviously not at work, which is a shame because his songs are productive and relavant and fun to have as a background. Overall though, I really like this guy, even if he is probably an entire generation behind me, his references are nostalgic to my 20's and there is alot of stuff that people his age probably don't catch because they weren't alive in the genre he makes reference to or didnt see some of the stuff or hear the expressions and know what he is talking about. But he does have a gift and I am sure he will be a huge success!

Watsky is astounding.
I've been following Watsky for some time now, and I've listened to a lot of his material. Despite being a lot less of a happy album than his mixtapes have been, the fact is, Watsky knows how to rock a rhyme. He's crisp and grungy all in the same line. This is proof to the music industry that if fans appreciate the artist they will buy the material. In the wasteland of Lil' Waynes and Justin Biebers, Watsky brings sincerity and skill that I personally haven't heard since the mid 90's. If you are looking to buy the first album you have in years, this will NOT disappoint. On a note of being a rapper, this album is the most inspiring album I've heard for every young rapper out there.Hats off to you George Watsky.

Don't hesitate on this one
I've been a fan of Watsky for a long time and I have to say that this album is some of the best stuff that he's done. It's packed with a lot of funny and catchy songs ("Ugly Faces" and "Kill a Hipster") but they are mixed in with songs that are evocative and beautiful ("Tiny Glowing Screens 1&2" "Sloppy Seconds"). If you are new to Watsky, and on the fence about this album, this is a great introduction to his work and it is worth your while. I haven't purchased an actual physical copy of an album in many years but I had to have a copy of "Cardboard Castles" so let that be a testament to how good it is.

Watsky's great!
George Watsky is an amazing artist, performer, and writer. Seeing him live is unlike any other experience in the world. His passion for what he does, and how much he cares about his fans permeates every venue he plays. If you ever have the opportunity, I can't recommend enough to go see him live. However, if that is not an option, then of course your next best option is his newest album. Following his funny, upbeat, and good-vibes attitude from his first album, Cardboard Castles has a great mix of great music with hilarious lyrics and spoken-word tracks with meaningful messages. If you're a fan of art, love, or intelligence, then this is an album you can't miss!

Could have very easily been 5 stars
Could have very easily been 5 stars, but for whatever reason I must have misread and bought the clean version. Really takes a lot of the umph out of the album. Hey A**hole become just a woman shouting "hey" into a void that goes on forever with no response and no echo. That and within HardHead Ned, what we thought to be Ned's death was the most anticlimactic thing I've ever experienced.

Awesome
This album is awesome and much better in my opinion than Watsky's first album. Worth every single penny and I could have bought it off itunes but I'd rather have a hard copy. It's worth supporting underground artist's like Watsky who actually has a message in the majority of his songs. I prefer rock/metal but Watsky and a few other rappers are an exception. Buy the CD, you wont be disappointed especially since you can try them out on youtube, but buy the CD and support Watsky.
