Q: Has anyone used this with the Garmin portable friction mount, as opposed to the suction cup on the windscreen? If so, would you recommend it?

I did not get on with that mount I ordered the one that goes in the air vent grill there much better as don't move when you break or full off

Q: does it have Russian language ??

It does have some with the style of lettering used in Russia but i cannot match them up by online translator. I tried looking for Pyccknn but nothing similar. Try e mail to Garmin support in Southanpton as usually very help full

Q: Can I instant sd card for North america

I'm sure that you can install US maps on your device, but you may have to pay for them.

Q: If i connect this garmin to my phone. am i still able to connect my phone (via bluetooth) to my truck? and can i manually enter the vehicle size ?tia

My experience was that when I paired my phone with the Garmin, the sound and manual controls were then transferred to the Garmin (and then were not available on my steering wheel). I found this less convenient but that could just be me... when the Garmin was not turned on, the controls reverted to the normal Bluetooth
