Ruger 5700 Ballistics Weather Meter with Link

I dont know how I shot long distance before buying this. I have used it to shoot out to 1200 yards and at angles up to 21 degrees without missing a shot. Of course it is all based on you entering proper info into the unit, but shooting at 1216 yards I didnt even need to calibrate it; it was dead on!I really like the Ruger version as well. I have 2 buddies who shoot Ruger rifles and with the pre-loaded guns and ammunition both of them were shooting out to 1000 yards within minutes. One of my buddies was shooting the Ruger American which is not a high end rifle and was making hits on a 24 inch steel plate at 1000 yards within 10 minutes of shooting. Amazing!I also use the Sig BDX binos and they link directly to the kestrel for distance measurements. You still have to capture the direction of fire since the binos cant do that, but it is way faster than scrolling through the distance by clicking the buttons up or down.I highly recommend Kestrel and I have encouraged everyone to go out and buy one. This unit is amazing. Pretty soon I am gonna try and stretch it out to 1760 yards, yes a mile! I am sure the Kestrel will be able to perform. In order to get the custom drag curves that will go through transonic you will need to upgrade to the advanced software, which is $300 but it may be worth it. From everything I have shot from 0- 1200 yards I havent needed it yet with my rifles.

This is a great little meter and ballistics computer. There are standalone ballistics calculators but I have found that most of the errors in long range shooting is from making errors with the environmental data. This meter does it all and is easy to use with a little practice. I bought the Ruger version as I use it with Ruger preloaded firearms. Its the same price as the standard 5700 which can be configured to do the same thing. All in all it’s fast and easy to use in the field or at the range and uses good environmental data every time.

If you don't have one of these you don't know what you're missing. This has completely changed the game for long range shooting. I live in North East Florida where the weather can wreak havoc on precision. This has made it simple this has made it fun and with the price of ammo it's made it a necessity

Works well only grips is the Bluetooth, it requires a dongle or a serial adapter to connect to a PC but connects fine with Bluetooth to a iOS or Android device. As far as the Ballistics portion it does a good job but does have a lot to learn to get full use from it. Fix the Bluetooth to be able to upload from a PC/MAC for gun configs rather than requiring a serial dongle. The Bluetooth adapter does at least allow for firmware and upgrades at least.

For being newer to long distance shooting (500yd+), this tool has put me on target so fast its remarkable. Read the wind and it will tell you how to adjust the scope on the first shot and will put you on paper for sure. There are so many other uses of this tool its amazing. You won't regret it

I bought the Ruger Kestrel due to I have 3 of the guns and calibers set into the Kestrel. It has functioned flawlessly every time I use it.I highly suggest getting on the Kestrel site and Panhandle precision to get the groundwork started.

Ease of use. Kestrel website has all the information and the unit works perfectly.

year is 2021 and I paid $399.Product reminds me cell phones from before year 2000. Cryptic alphanumerical menus, maze of menus. Tiny black and white low quality lcd. This is really outdated product. Im sorry to hear that military used those.ballistic calculator matches up what you get on cell phone ballistic apps. But it has obvious bugs - I can range target at 2300 yards for 223 and calculator gives me adjustments. 223 runs out of supersonic at about 800 yards. Common, give some warning. I paid $399 for that. No way Im paying $600 for elite model.You will need your cell phone to set this device up. There are many of very popular and no less precise ballistic calculators for cell phones. And I already have cell phone. One more thing to carry around and one more thing to break.reason I bought this device - bluetooth link to rangefinder. I have leica 2800. Bluetooth is completely unreliable, when it works its good. But most of the time it does not work. when bluetooth works It takes about 40-60sec to reconnect leica to Kestrel and get scope adjustments. I downloaded and installed current firmware.So I have to yell and ask deer to freeze and wait till I can range. In some cases bluetooth fails to connect at all and I get no range at all.
