We moved to a different house with a thicker heavier carpet so I had to change my office mat - and I needed a bigger mat and one that had the heavy spikes on the back. Now I want to make this very clear in this review- I use a a 500 pound office chair and I am a big person. And I am in this chair on this mat at least 50 hours a week.When it arrived it took a couple hours to straighten out, but once it was straightened out and put down, it has worked out well. The carpet is fairly thick but not like shag type carpet. Kinda a medium length cheap carpet style I have been using it for well over a month and I have not had any dents or indentations in the mat at all despite the large heavy chair and thick carpet. What I have had issue with is it slides around a bit. Its not overly annoying - just something I felt worth mentioning.It is super easy to clean, it cleans up well with a little all purpose cleaner and water. Overall for the price point I am pleased. I gave it 4 stars only because the spikes on the back need to be a shade longer so it doesn't slide around

This is a very practical and useful item, and it's hard to "review" something that quietly does it's job in the background of daily life. These days it seems the trend is toward hardwood floors, and I found many of these floor-saving mats available for smooth surfaces. Our need was for one to go over carpet, so read the descriptions to get what's right for your type of floor. I can't even remember how long ago I bought the mat this is meant to replace. After many years of daily carrying the weight of my husband in his favorite chairs, the old one finally began to crack. But not before outlasting at least three chairs. I expect no less from this one. It's thick and sturdy, and has those studs on the bottom to grip the carpet and keep everything from slipping as an occupied chair rolls on top of it. It's clear, and not intended to make a decorator's statement in the room. It blends right in with what's under it. The important thing is that it allows the wheels on a chair to roll and move, which is incredibly hard to accomplish directly on the carpet. It also helps keep those inevitable crumbs and spills out of the carpet, and accidents are easier to clean up. We currently use these mats in two places in our house, and wouldn't be without them!

Original post.Extremely unhappy with this product. We bought 2 of these mats for our study and both have now broken/cracked through. They are only 6 months old. I will need to replace both. My previous mats from a different supplier lasted for years before they broke. These felt great at first. Very hard and rolled very smooth. But if they don't last I can not recommend them.11/14/2017 UPDATE. The supplier did contact me directly after this review. They were sorry I had trouble with the mats and gave me the choice of having new mats, which are designed for deeper pile (that is what they believed the issue was) sent directly to me or to refund my money. I am moving and will have hardwood floors in the new home so I choose to take the refund. The supplier was very responsive and friendly. As I said above they worked great until they broke through. So if the problem was indeed that I had the wrong mat for my carpet I would consider purchasing these again.

Follow Up Review - I am going to raise my evaluation to Four Stars. The company bent over backwards to based on my original review to make me a satisfied customer. they offered a refund or replacement. I chose the replacement and the new mat is working as expected. A shout out to the reps I spoke to as we arranged the replacements.Original Review - these are supposed to be for carpet. whenever I step into the middle the edges curl up posing a hazard for the trailing foot to get caught on. On the good side they are lightweight and offer acceptable floor protection/.

I purchased the 40x38 mat. The price was much lower than other mats (44%off). Coupled with the many negative reviews I was concerned that the discounted price was a reflection of the quality. Made the purchase anyway, figuring I could return it if necessary. Received it yesterday. Box was unharmed from transit, item was unharmed as well. Rolled tightly enough to fit in box but loosely enough to not cack, break, or otherwise damage the product. The mat laid flat on my floor immediately after being removed from the box. It works wonderfully under my desk chair. I will note that I opted for the larger of the two sizes offered and I'm glad that I did. The bigger size allows for more movement with less risk of rolling off the edges and damaging the mat. Attached pictures with the chair on it so you can view the amount of available space with a relatively small size home office chair.

Perfect size for a small office. Mine hasn't cracked, nor does it have any odor. However. It slides around on the carpet, even though I have one end underneath a bookcase, which should have secured it. Nothing I've tried makes this mat stay in place. Otherwise it would work very nicely. And I am still using it, it's just a little annoying to have to put it back into place every so often.UPDATE: I do want to commend the company, which has contacted me twice re: my review. They seem to be a very conscientious company and genuinely want to provide a good customer experience. They offered a refund both times they contacted me, but since I am continuing to use the mat, I don't feel I need a refund. But it's good to know that the company about its customers.

We didn't want to spend money on something to protect the carpet and were going to try just using the desk chair on it, but quickly realized we needed a chair mat! When it came, it was rolled up, which concerned me that it wouldn't lay flat, but it rolled out with no problem, no cracks and lays nice and flat. It also stays put and doesn't move around when on the chair. I'm glad we changed our minds because it would have been difficult to roll around on the carpet without this!
