worked perfectly from the start
What can you say about a product that you plug in and does what it is supposed to do without any problems? I bought this because the digital tuner on my previous card went out and I couldn't get it working again. The Stanley Cup playoffs were coming up quick and I wanted to be able to be able to record as many of the network games in HD as possible. I wanted two tuners so I could record and play something else at the same time if I wanted and the Hauppauge was the one that seemed to meet my needs and was well reviewed.I bought the OEM version because I already had all I needed for an HTPC and liked the idea of getting just the card for the cheaper price. I am fairly confident in my ability to fix computers and don't get queasy when I have to open it up and root around in the innards so I didn't have a problem with it. Still, this is one of the lowest difficulty level installations that can be made and I'm fairly confident most people could accomplish it without difficulty...ok maybe not my mom but she's afraid to touch their iPad. It came in a plain white box with all possible connector bits that I needed to set up my computer and then some. I apologize that I'm not at my house right now to list all the leftover pieces but it is working, I promise. LolI plugged the card into my remaining PCI x1 slot. I have left my original card in since the analog tuner still works and I can record low def programs off the cable box through that. When I turned the computer back on, the driver was installed itself but I still went to the Hauppauge website to make sure the latest was in there. I hooked up my cable from the wall, went to Windows Media Center, ran the tuner scan and it found all of my tuners with no problems. I scanned for the appropriate channels and now I have a fully functional HTPC, at least good enough to record the Blackhawks winning the Cup again in high definition at least for the games that were broadcast on NBC. This is still only a solution for getting HD over the air or the clear access channels the cable companies send unscrambled. The picture quality is great for all those channels and I haven't had any tuner related problems since. Would be nice if my cable company provided more channels through QAM and I'm still considering the possibility of getting an HDhomerun prime but that is not a priority at the moment. My mission was accomplished. This was only its first test though. I have recorded programs since but mainly one at a time. The real test will come when the new tv season starts and I see how well it records multiple series playing at the same time. All in all, I have had a great experience with this product and would highly recommend it.

Best tuner I have encountered
I love this tuner card, it is the best pc tuner I have used when all factors are taken into account, including price. I use this for OTA signals. Two tuners on one device is so nice. The WinTV-HVR-2255 works great. I occasionally have issues that cause the software to crash, this happens with all of my tuners, on all of my windows applications, seemingly only on channels with weak signal, but never with scheduled recordings (for all the apps again). The reception is only slightly worse than connecting the antenna directly to a tv. I love being able to watch 2 shows at once (or watch 1 record 1, or record 2), it is very important to me especially during football season.I can not get the fm radio to work with WinTv with this tuner (it is not giving me the option) (i had success in the past with 955Q) but was able to get it to work with NPVR.Installation was a snap.I have owned, and returned a KWorld UB445-U2, and WinTV Dual HD. I currently own a KWorld UB435Q and this item, WinTV-HVR-2255. I owned, and after the warranty had run out (2 years) my WinTV 955Q broke. I tested both KWorld tuners on NPVR and Arcsoft TotalMedia 3.5 (which is the bundled software for the Kworld tuners). I tested the Hauppage tuners with NPVR and Win TV 7 and 8 (I had the software from previous purchase but so I bought the whitebox WinTV-HVR-2255, which if I understand correctly is not supposed to come with software, but mine came with a WinTv 8 cd, with drivers and the Wintv 8 and a serial number for the Wintv8). I tested all the tuners with the same antenna array, one tuner at a time. The 955Q got the best picture, and most channels, beating the WinTV-HVR-2255 and the UB435Q, but those two tuners still give great picture. The DualHD and the UB445 U2 were both returned because when I scanned I got approx a quarter less channels, and the picture quality was terrible. Except on a few channels, the picture was so choppy it was unabke to be watched on both the DualHD (one or two channels) and the UB445.So all in all I am thrilled with WinTV-HVR-2255. It has all the features i want, and i think the price is nice, I thought the Dual HD was going to be steal at $70 until i used it, so paying around $100, especially since the 955Q (single tuner) is $65 (i paid $55 in 2013), the best deal in my opinion is the kworld Ub435Q but read its reviews and maybe i just got lucky with it and unlucky with the DualHD.

does not work well with vista home basic and nvidia dual monitor card
after many problems i took this card out and am using my old 1600i bought the latest cd with the latest hauppauge wintv software and itkeeps crashing and i have still have to reboot 3 or 4 times a day.i don't know if it was the card or the software but many of the showsthat were scheduled to be recorded did not record and an empty file ofsize 0 was created for that show. it might be that one of the tuners on thecard is bad.at least with the old 1600 card i can reliably record a show. (if i am thereto reboot the machine before the wintv software stops working)i am not about to pay microsoft for a windows 7 license to see if i can getit working while my vista box is perfectly good. more cost effectiveto buy a whole new windows 7 box and that is not in my budget right now.i would rather try another brand rather than throw good money after bad.

Buen sintonizador
Gran calidad en sintonizar las señales, compatible para uso en México, lástima que solo tengan dos sintonizadores el de 4 sería genial. No trae control y el software Wintv 8 hace buen trabajo a secas, otros programas son mejores.
