Great Product - I'm really impressed
I read the reviews on this site and others and they were 50-50. Half the people loved this thing and half hated it. I figured with those odds and this low price, I'd give it a shot. I don't understand what problems those who hated it were having. I had no trouble at all. In under 5 minutes I was watching TV on my computer. The first step was to read the small setup manual that came with it. I connected the device to the cable line in my house and then plugged the USB into my Win XP laptop. As per the instruction I cancelled Window's new device window, then installed the drivers and software for the CD. It went perfectly smoothly.I bought this device to transfer a video from my camera to the PC. The only hitch was the audio connection on the Sabrent does not match the audio connector on my camera. No problem. I put the tape into a VCR and connected with the TV cable. Moments later I was recording the video to my PC.There is a ton of features in the software, that I need to start playing with. I also downloaded VirtualDub [...]) so I can edit the video. For the price of the Sabrent, I'm really impressed.

Does not work? Yeh, keep trying and you might get it
So, your new exposure to the Sabrent line of very affordable electronics feels like "you stumbled out of the gate."Tried plugging in my 15 year old Philips VCR/DVD player combo, that has been hanging out in the garage...since DVD players got a reasonable price. She worked and still should.DVD playing on Philips to Sabrent "USB 2.0 TV Tuner & Video Capture Box With Remote" test:S-video output = no joyComposite = no joyGoPro Hero2, 2.5mm output jack = checks good (w/ exceptions) ˄video is present on TVR2.5 popup window ˅not recording...Operator error / S/W?As of this submission,I am working on the recording audio aspect of this device.I am not sure why the antenna is not providing signal. Operator error / S/W?

This thing is the worst
Don't let price fool you. This thing isn't worth even five dollars.I bought this piece of vomit just to give it a try and because the price seemed so good. I thought the price would mean it was the basic of the basic, but I was very wrong.Starting off, the box is very misleading. it says you need a free PCI slot inside your computer, when this is not a PCI device, but a USB device. The box also states that it comes with a remote control, the unit itself, the drivers, and instruction manual. There was no instruction manual, and the remote buttons were all wrong. For example, you could hit the "Channel Up" button and it would respond as "Mute" or I could hit "Volume up" and it would respond to one of the number buttons. The remote buttons are all wrong! So I plug the USB device into the computer I wish to use it with. And blue screen of death, right away. I'm dead serious. I plug it in and it blue screen's the computer right off the bat. I restart that computer and I try it on a different computer. I use the manual way to install the drivers for the device, and it needs a file named "Tridvid.sys" I select the file from the WIndows XP driver file in the CD and IT BLUE SCREEN'S THE COMPUTER AGAIN! WHAT THE HECK!No matter how many times I try and install the driver, it blue screen's the computer. So I try one of the Windows Vista drivers, and it works fine. The software they give you is InterVideo WinDVR 3. The software isn't all bad, but I would like more features out of it. With the Windows Vista drivers and WinDVR, you CANNOT select an audio capture source other than the horrible audio capture device that is included with the capture device. And it does give you an audio capture input, and it's awful. The audio device leaves an ominous popping noise in the background, like it's static. Horrible! And you can't select a different audio capture input! I would like to use my computer's input source, but I can't.The unit has three methods for video input; Coax, composite, and S-Video. The Coax input doesn't work very well, it leaves an ominous high pitch ringing noise in the background. A sound frequency that you cannot hear when you reach a certain age, but I can still hear it. S-Video seems to work fine, great. The composite video input is poor. Video flashes black and flickers. All in all, this is horrible. You may notice that most video capture devices are very expensive(about 60-80 dollars.) But trust me, it is a good idea to put your hard earned money into one of those expensive capture devices. They will offer much better performance and will in most cases have a digital TV tuner in them. So you can get free HD over the air programming.Do not buy this though!

Works ok on Windows 8.1, a little dated.
This product is dated but useful. To confirm for those wondering, this DOES WORK on windows 8.1. That being said, it is not easy. Look up how to disable driver signature enforcement. With that disabled, it will install and work fine. Also, the capture resolution is not great, but I only got this for getting videos off of my VHS-C tapes and those aren't high quality anyway. Other than that, it works great.

Have not been able to put it to work with Windows 7 32-bit
Hello,I bought two of these, one of them works fine under Windows XP (although the remote only allows to switch from full screen to windows screen and you can only change channels by using the numeric pad..you cannot move backward or forward..) I tried to put the other one to work with my laptop that was running Windows 7-64 bit Professional, but, although I contact the vendor's customer support by email, the options that they gave me didn't work. So, I decided to try with another laptop that I have with Windows 7-32 bit, but the device cannot work with the drivers provided..not even with the ones that can be downloaded from the vendor's site nor the ones that customer support sent me by e-mail.Unfortunately, I have not been able to enjoy this product under Windows 7 and I have the product stored on my closet meanwhile.Thanks,Allan.
