MegaBrands Halo UNSC Pelican Gunship Mega Bloks Set

We have all of the Halo Megabloks vehicles and ships. We built the other version of the pelican, and I thought that one was well done, but when we got to this one, it was a whole different result.There are a few of the main pieces that are formed already, the intakes and such, that are a little more "true" than the other version. It's a solid build, it doesn't feel like anything's going to come off during play (and with a 10 year old son who builds these with me, trust me, they get played with).We had no missing parts with this one, which isn't a big deal anyway since they have a website that automates getting missing pieces mailed to you.The build was enjoyable, not overly challenging but not just a quick simple thing either. The wings ratchet but there's no play in them, and the ratcheting mechanism is solid, so they don't move at all on their own. There's enough moving parts on here to make it a fun toy for a 10 year old.And a bonus was that it comes with some pieces that let you carry the Mantis or a warthog underneath it just like in the game. So that makes play time even more fun.All told, it was a bargain at the list price, and a local brick and mortar has them at a 60% clearance for the last few weeks, and it's an absolute steal if you can find it on sale like that.A must have for any Halo fan.

Okay, first off, don't do what my son did: he opened all the packages in the box and dumped them into one big pile! I spent the next 2 hours sorting pieces into baking pans and baking sheets and big, flat tupperware containers. My son and wife and I helped our son build it. It has 170 steps! We started on Christmas day, and with other holiday things going on it took 3 days to build it.None of the above is meant as a complaint! The thing is awesome, and a proud achievement for our son. The shape of the vehicle (based on a design from the video game), however, does not lend itself to Lego construction, so they added a prop in the back to hold up the back end. Otherwise it will fall backwards. This unbalanced shape also means you really have to make sure all the bricks and parts in the middle section of the ship are really, firmly locked together, or it the whole thing will split in half. If it does, it's not a big deal to just reattach it and make sure it's done right.I wish the images in the step-by-step instructions were printed brighter. We had to keep the booklet under a bright light to make sure we had everything just right at every step.

I just recently got into Halo and in to Mega Bloks, so I figured I'd give a good sized set a go and see what happens. While waiting on it to arrive, I found out about Mega Bloks habit of leaving out a handful of needed pieces and how they don't number their bags. While mine was only missing a few pieces, it wasn't nothing major. But they really could take a lesson from Lego and do their sets in a better fashion instead of having you dump 1000+ pieces out onto a table all at once and then spent 5+ minutes looking for a certain piece that MAY not even be included. The instructions were also very dark, so you may be putting a peg B in when you should really be using peg A. I did end up with extra pieces that weren't even called for, so I made a little harness for my Mongoose to attach to the back. That only works before I lacked the joints to attach the hook for the warthog.The Pelican took me around 8 hours to complete and it is awesome. It's also very heavy and has a habit of ending up on it's side. I will need to fix that soon. Overall, I love the Pelican very much (completed) but putting it together was more of a headache. The included figures are awesome.

Bought this for my son for Christmas and we had a great time putting it together just the two of us. I started out by sorting all the pieces into like piles and then I would find the pieces he needed for each step and he would put it together. We started the build around 5pm and he worked on it until he passed out around midnight. I then continued to work on it until completion at 2:30am. I wanted to make sure he could play with it when he got up the next morning. He was so happy with it and just loves playing with it. Which makes the 9 1/2 hour build worth every minute. Some of the posts talk about missing pieces, our kit was not missing anything as a matter of fact we had a bunch of extra pieces left over so he was able to build something of his own imagination to go along with the gunship. Mega Bloks hit the nail on the head with this ship. Great detail and a quality built product. I personally think Mega Bloks has surpassed Lego on its quality of design and number of specialty pieces.

Bought for my son's birthday and he loves it. Had an awesome time building it (1.5 days) and is now in the process of running it through it's Halo "missions". Now as a parent, I found the following just a little annoying: motion activated...trying to build and the sound effects start going, 1184 pieces divided among several bags (felt like putting together a puzzle); I may be spoiled on this because I'm use to steps 1 - 4 are contained in the bag labeled #1. Once sorted and grouped the build went smooth.Quality parts...no defects noticed on building pieces. If my son loves it, then so do I. Would definitely buy another Mega Bloks Halo product.

Ordered this for my 8 year old son who is in love with everything HALO. He opened it on Christmas day, I began assembling it the following day and took two days to finally get it together...it is a VERY large and intricate build with plenty of pieces to excite even the most ardent fanatic! The Mega Blocks seem on par with Legos and fit tightly. I don't know who sits around thinking up how to build things like this, or what unique parts need to be manufactured, but whoever it is deserves credit for a genuinely interesting and complex product that cannot help but please all those interested in HALO - adults and children alike.There is no way my 8 year old son could have put this together by himself...I BARELY managed to make it through something like 175 "steps," which is another way of saying...you GET your money's worth!

Me ha gustado mucho mas que el original del videojuego ya que los ángulos tan rectos de las piezas le dan una apariencia más agresiva que la de el juego, que en mi opinión es demasiado curvilínea, por otra parte no es difícil de modificar con otras piezas y apesar de que le faltaba alguna pieza, el servicio de atención al cliente de Amazon se comportó muy bien y enseguida mandaron los recambios, gracias a todos ;)

I got this for my son's Christmas and at this price was great value done everything it said on the tin as they say lol and especially where everywhere else was selling this at 20 pounds extra this has to be a great deal I had no problems and also my son had extra parts left over so there was plenty to spare in that respectRecommend !

Der neue Pelican ist ein ganz schöner Brummer und ist größer als wie es auf den Bildern wirkt.Er ist im ganzen sehr stabil gebaut, auch wenn es auf den ersten Blick nicht so aussieht. Lässt sich also auch dadurch gut bespielen und mit den zusätzlichen Licht und Sound Effekten kommt noch zusätzlich Spaß auf. Bei mir kommt er allerdings in die Vitrine , bin schon älter und sammle die Modelle. Es waren im übrigen wieder sehr viele Ersatzteile über, was ich sehr schön finde, aber das war bis jetzt bei jedem Set von Halo Mega Bloks so.

very nice set, was bought for my halo collecting hubby and he loved putting it together, decent build as it took about a full day to put together , all pieces were there and of course extras, loved the lights and sounds and the detail put into it :) highly recommend :)
