Exceptional in every way
I've loved this book from the moment I had heard of its existence. The front cover features the iconic Columbus Circle scene from Eyes of Laura Mars which was a huge selling factor for me. I've always loved that shot, so I was more than pleased to find it as the cover for a coffee table book. The back cover is Margaux Hemingway who happens to be my favorite supermodel of all time. Sold. Sold. Sold. But theres so much more. Many iconic shots by Ara Gallant, Helmut Newton, etc..many..many not so known photographs which really makes this book shine.I can't say enough good things about this book. If you're on this page and were considering it, go for it. The few examples online do not show how much quality has gone into this book. Just fantastic.

Spectacular view of one aspect of the 70s.
The book is huge and chock full of great photos of the era reflecting the glamorous, often hedonistic wild time and celebrities of the 70s. If fashion, nightlife, music and celebrities of the mid to late 1970s are of interest to you then this book is a must have.

Nice coffee table gift
Gave this as a gift to someone who really enjoys the 70s - so he was thrilled to have it. He spent most of Christmas day paging through it. Success.

So lush...
The first half of the book is absolutely marvelous to behold, and it is very well printed. While thumbing through the pages you won't leave any nasty fingerprints, unlike other books printed on glossy paper, and there is a great selection of photographs and interviews with some of the people featured, often with bold black text printed over silver. My only gripe with the book, is that the quality of the subjects dips considerably half way through. For example, the photos of Sid & Nancy and the punk cliques of '70s London like Ms. Westwood and the patrons of her shop, are hardly what I would consider glamourous. As I recall, punks were not the thing to aspire to be back then. What also struck me were the glaring omitions; Where were the photos of disco groups such as Chic, Earth Wind & Fire, etc? What about Charlie's Angels, the biggest most glamourous TV icons that I remember? Not even one pic of them at all! Only two of Farah Fawcett. And only a single photo of Studio 54...from outside?? And although Eyes of Laura Mars is one of my fave movies of that period, the cover photo could've been a better choice (see my pix). I'm guessing that a rights issue is to blame for this, but in any case the tome redeems itself towards the end with photos of Liz Taylor and Debbie Harry, and my gripes beforehand certainly did not stop me from leafing through the book another time. Plus, I can't complain too much as it cost me less than a tenner; Thank you Browns Books for your superfast delivery and cheap price of a "used" book which was still sealed!
