Amazing pictures, thick paper, doesn't bleed. Good tattoo ideas too.

I had some surgery that was going to keep in bed for several weeks and a kind friend....well, the guy who does my tats...suggested I buy this along with a set of Pentel colour markers. As I'm 50 years beyond Grad School, the thought of a colouring book left me un moved. And then it arrived. The paper is heavy, the designs clearly printed and the range is far beyond pennants on which can be placed a name, or flags or the usual flash one finds in tattoo parlours. These are not original designs but they are far more complicated than they first appear; A pair of Koi that cover two full pages, fire breathing figures, and, yes, some pages of the prosaid that many have but, over all, it will keep you interested. Also, as you begin to work you realize that what may be on you and what you're "colouring in" have a huge difference and that's shading and using various colours in one area. It becomes a real challenge to try and even partially emulate "the real thing" from the results on the printed page. Even if all the images do not interest you, they're worth trying if only to educate yourself about the complexity of colour, shading, the spectrum and how itr's used. One thing I did and liked the effect was to use a needle tipped fountain pen to lay in some additional black lines where I thought they should be; It's my book so,,,,Also some of the figures have gold already on the paper which, in real life, wouldn't exist. It's hard to cover up (another of the tattooists art) but it can be done. Also, my ink pen can bleed through in the way a marker does not. The end result can be surprizingly realistic although whether I'd cut them out and create my own "flash" in my room is unlikely.In the title I say this isn't for children not because there is an raunch in the subject matter but the ability to hold a pen and to think beyond panels of one colour isn't a gift most children have. It's not an in expensive book, although well worth it in numbers of illustrations and quality, but it's not the sort of thing a child would even enjoy; I'm told by friends who have them that children become frustrated, easily, when presented with material that is beyond their grasp.I would hope that, at some point, the people who produced this will come out with other books, each one devoted to a more specific theme; I.E, Nautical/ Military,Eagles, old school, cartoons/new school etc. Or, if you have only black at hand and a piece of white paper, you can do your own tribal design.This is a great gift for that person who admires and perhaps has tattoos.

This is my favorite coloring book by far! I've recently become mostly home bound due to complications from advanced cancer and treatment side effects and coloring has helped me a great deal with both my anxiety and keeping my mind active when I cant get out much. I've become a bit of a coloring book junkie and Amazon is the perfect go to for a shut in and someone who loves coloring books that aren't plastered with flowers and inspirational quotes. This book is large and luxurious feeling, it's not that cheap glossy binding but a thicker almost linen feeling cover and accent pages. The pages are heavy, almost like card stock. Theyre not so heavy they could withstand markers since the pages are back to back (literally the only downfall of this book but still not enough to give any less then 5 stars). The tattoos drawings are gorgeous! Retro flash pieces and large classic tattoo styles in a huge variety. The drawings are crisp and clear with plenty of space to color as well as many featuring metallic gold accents. A lot of coloring books on here, especially the tattoo and more macabre themed books, look like children's Halloween coloring sheets that have been photocopied too much. They have large areas of black, poorly lined pictures and almost nothing to color. This was actually designed for a more mature style of coloring. The art in this coloring book is so cool, think vintage anchors, ships, and daggers. Theres also some pages that feature a main drawing such as a hand or person on one page that is decorated in tattoos and designs and then a blank hand or person opposite so you can try out your own designs for a more customized piece. For the price this is a steal! I'm so excited to get through this one and order the artists second Flash Tattoo coloring book!

I like the artwork in this book quite a bit. But I have a few problems with the book itself hence the deduction of one star. The paper is double sided and not perforated. The paper is okay but not great meaning even water based markers and gel pens show through slightly on the other side. There are 6 "draw your own" designs where you copy what the artist has done. These are worthless to me as I don't draw and would have preferred pages to color. There are two double page spreads already colored by the artist. They are nice, but would have preferred them uncolored so I could color those as well. Also, my book did not have the cover design included as a coloring page (I hate it when publishers/artists do that). I also don't care for the over use of gold everywhere. So maybe more like 3.5 stars.

i cannot express the sheer quality and incredible volume of work in this one book. it feels like a gift from the artist to be given access to these pieces at this stage in their design. i am floored. like i said, simply stunning! if you get a chance to purchase this, do it without hesitation. no matter the price, i assure you that you are getting a good deal on some incredible art made for coloring and personalizing. wonderful!

This is an awesome book to color in, especially with the intricate designs. It's also a perfect gift for tattoo artists or tattoo lovers, as it can also be a book for inspiration when it comes to tattoo flash. There's a ton of quirky and cool designs here to look at and even admire, you can color them all in or leave as is just to look at. You'd be in awe if you buy this book and check out the awesome poster included in it. Very cool, and a 5 star rating from me!
