Strong, well built and beautiful birdfeeder
I purchased this lovely bird feeder several months ago and I just love it. I felt I should write a review because on 2 different occasions last week the black bear family has been roaming around our neighborhood. Sure enough they pulled the shepherds hook to the ground and got all the birdseed out with no damage to the feeder. This feeder comes completely apart for a good cleaning. This is a great choice for a strong, well built bird feeder. We waited a week and now will only leave them out during the day when we are around and bring them in at night.

Perky Pet Does Not Mess Around!
This thing came wrapped so well in bubble wrap that I think they could have dropped it from the space shuttle and it would have not only survived entry into earth's atmosphere, but bounced upon touchdown. It took several cutting devices and strategies to get to the feeder which, upon emergence from its cocoon, was quite lovely. The birds are already enjoying it, and so am I. I hope it lasts because obviously the people at Perky Pet wanted me to have it. UPDATE! I'm glad that perky pet went to all the trouble. This feeder is far and away the most favored in the garden. It's especially good for chickadees and smaller birds. Furthermore, I've found it to be particularly resistant to squirrely interlopers. Very very nice.

Beautiful feeded that does attract birds.
Very attractive feeder, I purchased the blue one and the birds flock to it all day long. It's easy to hang and very easy to fill and clean. Each bird has a perch so it cuts down on the bullying lol from the more aggressive feeding birds. Now, and this is important, if you use, as I do, a mixture feed with small seeds well be prepared to see the feed gone in a day. Oh, they didn't eat it most of it ends up on the ground, the birds put their head into the opening and go to town and push huge amounts of feed to the ground. The good part is the Cardinals get to eat, they can not perch on this feeder easily. Than the rabbits and squirrels also get lots to eat on the ground. I found if you put in a smaller amount of seed in the feeder it doesn't get emptied so quickly, the pressure from the seed above does not push down so it slows down the flow of seed going to the ground. I am looking for a wide plate to suspend at the bottom of the feeder this will catch the feed and also give a better feeding area for the Cardinal and Blue Jays.

Good, strong feeder for the price
My feathered friends over here figured out how to dump all the seeds on the ground from this feeder. I think they just "throw out" seeds they don't want and eat the preferred seeds. Result is, a big mess of seeds everywhere! I have other feeders and this doesn't happen, so I deduct it's a flaw in the feeder, that doesn't provide protection for this. EDIT: I didn't think about the feeder tray not being there, and I do buy the cheapest bird seed I can find, which probably results in seeds getting scattered. And to be honest with the makers and anyone else that sees this, I see that they even scatter the ones with trays now days (lots of birds come here to avoid the winter up north). I guess I need to learn more about what seeds the types of birds like. Other than that, the seeder is very nice, so I upped the stars

Birds and I love it
All of the birds love it, even the fat Mourning Doves who can't fit on the tiny perches prefer to sit on the stand's perches and peck at this one. The finches and sparrows are always swarmed on and fighting over this one, rather than the panorama round one, and this one is always the first to be empty. The lid is easier to replace on this one as it just slides down into place if it's facing the right direction, no need to line up the overlapping plastic borders. When empty, the plastic "window" inserts were quite loosely held and rattle around so I tightened the little clampy prongs on the inside and they sit still a lot better now, but not perfect.

No recommendation here...
We liked 3 things about this feeder: It looked very good (at first) it was quite inexpensive and it attracted deer families. We like the deer but they lick the openings, which causes seeds to stick and often forces the feeder to loose its balance. The birds liked it but the problems with it are bigger than the good reports. The negative points: One must keep the plastic sides from slipping out of place - the holders often fail to hold tightly and sometimes do not hold at all. I used heavy tape which was fine but impossible to keep clean. Squirrels can upset the balance of the feeder, causing it to tilt and spill. The biggest problem is the design that requires the wire to be "relaxed" for filling. No matter how tightly the wire is secured, squirrels and deer can dislodge it easily.

Beautiful, but flawed
This was exactly what I was looking for, except for one major flaw. The cover is most definitely not “squirrel proof” as listed. It does not fit securely on top, nor does it stay on tightly and securely. It’s a lovely little feeder. I’d happily give it 4 or 5 stars if this design flaw was rectified.

Perfect
This was ordered for Mother's Day. I live away at college and wouldn't be able to make it into town for the holiday so I needed something I could ship without seeing and make sure it would arrive on time. It arrived with several days to spare and when I saw it, I couldn't have been happier. I was worried, after looking at the price, that it would show up and look a little cheap, but it was better than I had imagined. It didn't say anywhere but it's made out of metal, not plastic which looks great. The birds love it and my mom loves it hanging out of her kitchen window. It comes with a wire built in to hang off of a tree or pole.
