The only sunblock I'll ever use on my children
We spent a week in the blazing sun at the beach and my fair skinned children didn't even blush thanks to this lotion. It is thick but easy to apply all over their little selves. They had a slight whitish tinge to their skin until it absorbed. However, they played in the full sun and water for several hours everyday and did not burn in the least. In fact, they both came home with tans. This company was one of just a few that passed the Environmental World Groups study of sunblocks. It is completely safe for children. The company has also signed the "Compact for Safe Cosmetics" so you can feel very good about buying their products. The lotion (not the unscented) has a lovely, citrusy aroma that we all liked, too.

I've this for 3 straight summers now...
...and it works great. My kids are in and out of the water and they have yet to burn. It smells great and rubs in better than any of the other natural sunscreens. Trust me, I've tried several. At one point I was concerned about nano particles and called the company and they assured me that although it doesn't state it, California Baby does not use nano technology. We've been really happy with the many California Baby products that we've tried and the sunscreen is no exception. The only drawback is the price; I would consider it to be very expensive for a sunscreen, especially if you're having to cover entire bodies at the beach. I think it's worth it, so we keep buying it, but the price makes it border on cost-prohibitive for me.

Great product a bit pricey.
A friend had this item for their child and I have been looking for a product that is safe for my dog who has a pink nose. For children: is thick and a little bit goes a long way and it seriously waterproof, not even soap and water gets it off first time. For my dog: good coverage and cannot lick it away, and organic. 4 star because it's a bit pricey.

smooth even coverage that lasts for hours
I climb mountains, so my skin gets the maximum possible exposure to the sun (direct, high altitudes = less atmospheric protection, and reflection off the snow from below). I purchased this and three other highly rated sunscreens. The others are zinc or titanium oxide based. All do a fairly good job of protecting my skin. The big difference, and why this one wins out over the others is the smoothness of application. The others are rather 'stiff', and require a fair bit of working in to get good coverage and no white spots. I always end up coming home with a spot or two that got missed (elbows, back of the arm, etc) and are bright pink. Not to mention the white stains on my shirts. With this sunscreen, it goes on smoothly, lasts the 3-5 hours between applications (may last longer, but I don't even try), and I don't have sensitive pink spots in out of the way places.

Better than typical sunscreens and safer for you
We read a lot of info about sunscreens - I fish in the tropics all the time and as a result need good sunscreen to avoid excess UVA and UVB. Our research (check the web) showed that many of the popular sunblocks you by in big retailers have ingredients that may not be very healthy for you and we tried ones that had few or no questionable ingredients. Eventually we tried this sunblock and even though it's SPF30 it blocks sun, as far as I can tell, as well as some of the namebrands like Coppertone Sport 70 and 100 SPF sunscreens. We use this on our toddler and it works great. Only negative is like any sunscreen that uses titanium dioxide as the primary ingredient, your face will be pasty white upon first application until you rub it in. The positive is this type of sunscreen actually blocks both UVA *and* UVB whereas popular sunscreens only block - most only block UVB.

Disappointing
The sunscreen arrived quickly, however, I received a tube that expires next year. I usually buy California Baby unscented sunscreen, but this is the first time I've gotten a tube that can basically be used for only one summer. I tried a little of the sunscreen on my baby's arm as a test since the product is scented. The smell kept making him sneeze. He stopped sneezing as soon as I removed it from his arm.I contacted customer service in order to return the item, but was told that despite the notice on the amazon page for the sunscreen stating that it was eligible for free returns, I could not return it. The excuse given was that a return could not be done on certain purchases because of "healthy and safety concerns". Hence, I am quite disappointed with amazon.com, the seller and the sunscreen.

Great Sunscreen
I have fair, sensitive skin and have found that this sunscreen not only does the job it was made for, but it also does not have the harsh chemicals that damage my skin. I line in Florida and have used it in the pool, at the beach and when I knew I would be out in the sun a lot. As long as I followed the directions (re-applying when I should) I never got burned. It has a light scent that reminds me of Froot Loops cereal - and I am OK with that. :)

Works even with South California sun
We've tried so many Sunscreens. I purchased different ones recommended at EWG website, so we can test them. There is no one good for all sunscreen, pick your activity and then look for sunscreen. This one is a winner for any water activities.Yes, it's a little bit greasy, but that's how it stays so well in water. Actually I like it this way, it protect skin from wind as well. My husband surfs, and that's his favorite one. I decided to write a review, because it's 4th time I'm reordering it, think it's fair to leave a good review:)).My daughter likes Seventh Generation sunscreen for school(we do need to have it on a daily basis here), it's not greasy and very light, yet protects her well.Hope that helps.
