Quality tool
I used this to level a floor. This tool will be around long after I'm gone... all metal construction and well made.

OK for lighter materials, but not a great design
This tool worked well for my application, which was distributing self-leveling cement, but I have some serious reservations about this design. The height adjustment is accomplished with a pair of "U" bolts, one bolt per "skate," or metal piece that sits on the floor and controls height. This is not the best design, in my opinion. First of all, it takes a wrench to adjust height, which is annoying in itself but is especially troublesome because the rake body is aluminum. Trying to wrench steel bolts tight against aluminum, and knowing it will ruin your concrete if it slips, makes for a silly balancing act between getting it tight enough and damaging the tool. There are also no markings, so you also need a measuring tool to adjust the height evenly. Second of all, the contact patch between a plain-old round profile U bolt and the round-profile steel skate is minimal, so it is very hard to get these to apply the necessary friction to hold well. I would up grinding the inside of the "U" bolt flat, which seemed to help quite a lot. It held just fine working with my self-leveling, but I'd be very apprehensive about using it with more viscous material. If I had it to do over, I'd do what my concrete worker buddy suggested and fabricate my own gauge rake out of wood rather than buying this tool.

Best Gauge Rake
As a tile installer, I have been through a dozen or more other brands. This one is the best I have ever had. It is lightweight and easy to clean up. Adjusting for thickness has been no problem. I would highly recommend for anyone using self leveler.

Awesome
I just got done doing 60 bags of self leveler over floor heat. I set this awesome tool at 3/8 and was jumping over 1/8 heating wire for a perfect 1/2. What was a 3 man job is now 2 man$$$Mikey Z

Perfect for laying Tile
This tool is hard to find in stores, and besides having to wait for it to come it was perfect for my tile job.

Rip off, I expected to receive the item as pictured, just screw in a stick & have a useful item.
Item is not worth the price! Website shows an assembled Item, but I received a box with a few dollars’ worth of parts; an aluminum angle bar, a bag of small parts, no tools and a piece of paper, smaller than a dollar bill, with tiny pictures on how to assembly the item. For $43, I expect to open the box, screw in a stick and have a useful item. I did not anticipate having to spend time figuring out how to assemble it and then spend the time to actually put it together. This was just an expensive item with me providing the labor to make it useful. I returned it for a refund!
