If Soundproof blocking is what you want, then you want this product!
UPDATE: 12/1/25 by Joseph Babbitt I just bought 2 more Elgin Discord gen2 earbuds. One of mine was recently stolen and the other were damaged by ME, My Bad! They last 3 ++ times longer than cheaper earbuds out there. Why two pairs of my Elgin Gen 2 Discord? If you read my previous review below, it may help you understand why I absolutely NEED these! So now I have a back-up pair, ready for immediately use. Over, about10 yrs, I've bought several Elgin products bc of their quality and their customer service! I believe the DISCORD Gen2 are better than the Gen3's. The "2's" are a "straight line" pair, more of a direct to eardrums design. The Discord Gen 3's are set at an angle, limitimg the way they can fit in an ear; partially blocking the speakers and IMHO are uncomfortable as well. There are twice as many ears than people and their ears are/may be different ear shapes. The Rukus earbuds are "straight-line" style also, but are very lightweight to the point they may fall off without your knowledge if not clipped on securely. But now, again I have two pair of my "Anti-anxiety secret weapons!" Other earbuds didn't meet my needs. I have anxiety issues and LOUD sounds is a trigger! (But rarely by my own music) These Elgin Discord Gen 2's let's my music encompass me; while blocking out the rest of the world! I consider it my "secret weapon" when playing pool in bars, even with live bands . Some of today's "music" has way too much bass, but with these, it blocks out about 85-95 % of Booming Bass. So all I have to do is turn up my music a bit and all else fades away! And this made me so very happy! Finally, a product that actually works! The exact remedy that I've been searching for!!! Plus, the sturdy Kevlar wire strands, will out-last many other brands, saving you from having to repeatedly buy another pair of cheap earbuds. Buy these once, and take care of them, instead of multiple cheaper ones. Now, I'm a "poor boy" but this product is Definitely worth the price. If you can put a price on Serenity. The Quality of sound isn't sacrificed while blocking out loud noises. I LOVE THIS DEVICE! To underline how much; I very rarely post my opinions or experiences about anything. (because I don't like to "Feed the Machine") But I simply had to for my Elgin's Discord Gen two's. IMHO these are the best version of Elgin earbuds. Of course there is a little discomfort, if they are in your ears for a very long time. And it would be an acceptable trade off. But I just pull slightly out then push back in. The discomfort is short-lived. And the 2 hour Charge is very long lasting-10hrs+ based on my experience and use. Anxiety can stop you in your tracts, steal away happy possibilities. This has allowed me to have fun when perceived chaos is all around. So I'd say whether for work or play this product is your answer! The Only drawback is that I had trouble with the small wire clips (at least with a t-shirt). That's the Only problem I had. And it's possible I didn't do it right. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!! -ENJOY

I work at an airport, these are pretty great!
I work outside, on the ramp, at a major American East Coast airport. It's as noisy as you can imagine. I carry two radios for communicating with two different business partners, plus I need to be able to take phone calls from either, at any moment. The phone calls were the main issue, until I bought these. They offer true -27dB noise reduction. I have tested them literally side by side, these in one ear and OSHA approved ear plugs in the other and these live up to their advertised noise reduction capabilities. I don't listen to music on the ramp but will say that the sound quality for receiving calls is very good and I've never had anyone experience problems understanding me, even while standing within 20' of a 737 revving up its engines preparatory to departure. That said, I've worn them while listening to music on my riding mower, twice now, and the sound quality is decent, not audiophile quality but more than capable of handling any streaming music service or downloaded mp3 files without distortion. Battery life is beyond expectations. I was thinking 2, maybe three days at the most. After 7, 12-hour shifts, I was only down to 60%. Remember, I only used these for taking calls while at work plus maybe 2 hours total while mowing the lawn. They will shut down on standby, which I only experienced once. Anyway, the battery life is nothing to worry about. Edit: I have started listening to music during some of my shifts. Battery life is still remarkable and the music quality is decent. As far as comfort goes, I'm not a big fan of this style of ear plugs. They tend to hurt to my ear canals, I prefer foam plugs that can be rolled into a tight cylinder that expands into the ear canal. These became...uncomfortable...after about the 8th or 9th hour of wear? Not painful, just not...no longer noticeable...like I wanted to remove them but didn't feel I had to? Sort of weird, I know. My solution after a couple of days was just to take them out for a while during a slow period on my shift. Problem solved! Elgin makes a variety of Bluetooth-enabled hearing products. I chose these as being the cheapest "risk" and I am very happy with my choice. Give Elgin and its products a close look, and if you purchase I think you'll probably be quite satisfied, as am I.

Headphones work as expected
The headphones work as expected but nothing more. The headphones block sounds from the work area and the sound quality is decent. The headphones don't have deep bass but very clear. Recommend for podcasts, audible and music that don't require deep beats or bass. The headphones are lightweight and the connection range is good. The charging is usb-C and takes 3 hours to fully charge. The set up and connection process was very simple and fast. I wish there were more ear plug sizes and that the earplugs snugged the ear a bit better. The headphones get the job done. As a note, I used headphones with sound canceling that work better under the same conditions. I think OSHA should look into that technology to approve. Break down, sound 7/10, quality 9/10, comfort 7/10, battery 10/10, durability?, overall 8/10.

The good was great, the bad was bad but Elgin fixed it
I used these everyday for about 8 months. I had the cheapest version first, so I splurged on these when the earbuds tore. That model they’re not replaceable. These sound great and truly block out a lot of factory noise. One day, the left ear bud stopped working. When I took the earbuds plug portion off, I found the end of the speaker where the ear plug attaches to had broken. These are unusable now. I am going to test their 1 yr warranty. Mic quality was exceptional considering the loud environment. Easy to operate and connect to Bluetooth. Fairly long range as well. UPDATE: Filed claim thru Elgin’s website. Sent photos and they replaced with no issue. They had no idea I had already purchased the rebel wireless ear buds. I do prefer these over the rebels solely because my job requires me to move around, look up and down, crouch and the safety of the buds being connected appeal to me more. Wouldn’t hesitate to purchase these again.

Had a little trouble but Elgin honored warranty
I've had these headphones since July 30. (About 40 days or so.) A tear randomly happened in the yellow earbud cover. I have treated them very gently and carefully because there are $60, so I don't understand what happened. There are no replacements for the yellow earplug and mine has now completely detached. The sound was great and the battery life was amazing, but here we are. UPDATE: It took some time to get in touch with Elgin USA for a warranty claim. At first Amazon gave me a number and I couldn’t seem to get through. Elgin’s website isn’t very helpful, but finally Amazon let me know I could message Elgin through them. I don’t know why I didn’t think of that or why Amazon didn’t mention the message option in the first place, but eventually I did get through. Message them through Amazon if you have an issue. Within a few weeks, I had my replacement pair in hand. Great voice cancellation, long battery life, good sound. Elgin USA made good on the warranty, so I’m updating my 1 star to 4 stars. Only docking one star for how long it took to actually get in touch with them and for the issue with the first pair. But nothing is perfect, so I hesitate to not give 5 stars. The headphones really are great. I’ll update if I have any issues with the new pair, but so far I don’t think I will. UPDATE: 8 months later they’re dead. It connects, but the sound is in and out. I’ve kept them very carefully so it can’t be anything I’ve done to them. I’m not going to even bother with trying to get a replacement pair again because it’s obvious they’re not worth the $60 I spent. I spent half of that on a pair that lasted well over 2 years so I’ll go back to those. I see these aren’t even available anymore, I just wanted you say my piece.

Disappointing! Failed To Charge After Six Months of Use - Stay away.
Elgin Ruckus Discord is Dead after 6 months of use. I stepped up from cheaper BT earplug headset that was half the price of this headset. Overall I was pleased with the performance and durability of the Elgin Ruckus. I was not rough at all with this headset. I always put the set away after wiping it off and charging it up for the next day of use. Bottom line, I take care of my stuff and not new to taking care of electronic devices. I am a semi retired photographer/videographer. I mainly used this for the mowing season, so maybe 2 times a week at the most. The Good: - Audio quality, 7 out of 10. It's OK for helping to seal out excessive noise levels when grinding, mowing, etc. - Comfort, 8 out of 10. If you wear these for more than a few hours at a time, I would not go with these. - Seals out most of the ambient noise 8 out of 10 - you can quickly/easily take 1 or 2 earplugs out if needed. The Bad: - Micro-USB charger. 2 out of 10. This is the only Micro-USB charged item I have. I don't know if it is technically feasible but a USB-C would be ideal. - Durability, 1 out of 10. This should last more than 6 months of use. It will not rake a charge. Yes, I went through the Elgin troubleshooting process.

Lasts great for the abuse it takes!
Great bluetooth earplugs with surprisingly good quality. A lot of folks are getting mad when these things break after a few months; for a lot of folks using earplugs though we know somewhat delicate electronics are not going to last forever under the rigors of our work. Mine have finally broken after about 5 months and I'm not upset about it; hell every pair of earbuds I've ever owned have lasted no longer than a month. 5 months of constantly being put in and out of my ears, getting yanked on when moving large wood slabs and they get caught between the slab and my chest, getting covered in stains and other finishes. The silicon tips are absolutely excellent and don't irritate my ears at all like other silicon earplugs I've tried. The volume reduction does seem like it is a tiny bit less than solid earplugs; but they still reduced all noise an exceptional amount; still able to hear my podcasts while running 40" wide slabs through our 42" 70+ year old planer (one of the loudest things I've ever heard lol, whenever somebody starts it everyone in the shop instinctually puts in their earplugs haha). My left earplugs finally stopped putting out audio this morning; leaving them kinda broken - though earplugs with bluetooth in one ear is still much preferable to silence for me. Battery lasts playing constantly that it's usually almost out by lunch, charge during my 30 minute lunch break and then it usually lasts me the rest of the 9 hour work day; though I have been considering getting a second pair so I can swap them out whenever the battery dies; and it looks like I'll be ordering a new pair to be my main set of earplugs and relegate this one ear pair to use while the new one is charging. And for anyone who was specifically interested in the neck-strap type design that keeps it around your neck, the ruckus design works absolutely great even though it doesn't "clamp" down on your neck like all the headband earplugs I always preferred before I got these. You just put the strap on the back of your neck and let the earplugs hang down the front of your chest when not in use, and just grab them and pop them in when needed. Oh and my work is inside of a huge old factory building so no air conditioning and lots of strenuous work; I've pulled these earplugs off literally dripping in sweat before and I've never had an issue. They've only fallen off once and I was crawling around half upside down in close quarters, and I could've grabbed them and stopped them from falling if my hands weren't already full! But if you too are looking for a review from the perspective of another "maker" type; I love these earplugs. 5 months is more than acceptable for a pair of wireless electronic earplugs that got used as hard as mine.

Best Bluetooth headphones for blue collar workers
I am a machinist, and work in a loud environment. These headphones have lasted me a year, and work exactly like they did the day I got them. The battery can last 2 to 3 days working 10-12 hour days, which helps when I forget to charge. The buds fit snugly in the ear and help protect your ear from high and low frequencies. The buttons work fine even when exposed to moisture. The sound quality is similar to Apple headphones. Well worth the price when compared to other headphones on the market. One of the top ten best purchases I’ve ever made in my life. UPDATE: About a year after I made this review I’ve started having issues with the headphones. They will turn off intermittently through the day and I’ll need to plug the charging cable in for a few seconds to “jump” the battery into turning back on. Overall I’d say they lasted roughly 3 years, and if I didn’t have money to buy a new pair, I’d be fine continuing to use them because they still work fine enough even with the inconvenience. I’ve already purchased the newer Discord model and am pleased by the quality so far. I still stand by my original review of the product and highly recommend it as a purchase for blue collar working people.

Better audio than expected...
The sound on these is better than I expected. As is the reduction of external noise. Unfortunately, the plugs are a little too large for my ear canals making them very uncomfortable too quickly. The left speaker crackles and cuts out when the cable moves too and it did this right out of the box.
