Works well; fast and efficient
Compact (doesn't take up too much counter space), well-designed, and easy to use. I bought it 2 months ago and I'm very satisfied. The grinder grinds the beans completely, and the built-in steel mesh filter keeps all the grounds in - no grounds get into the coffee. It's very easy to assemble and disassemble for cleaning. Minor downsides; cleaning takes a few minutes, and you have to shake the grounds out of the filter unit after detaching it - but this would be the same for any coffee maker with a built-in grinder. I usually run water through it once or twice after cleaning to remove any leftover coffee flavor. The 4-cup carafe is a bit small, but it's perfect for one person and would probably be enough for 2 moderately-thirsty coffee drinkers.

Great little coffee maker!!! Love it!!!
I really like this little coffee maker. Works perfect for my situation, as we also own a Keurig that does espresso and Keurig pods. If I am in some kind of a hurry, I can always make a Keurig, and go. But, I enjoy the smell of fresh grind, and I find the fresh bean grind, so much better when I just want a great cup of coffee. I think it does take about 4 minutes from grind to finish, but that is not a problem. It makes two good size cups of coffee or 3-4 smaller size. I do clean the filter daily, with a small brush, to keep any build up from the oil on the beans from clogging the filter. No problems whatsoever thus far.

Cleaning is less than ideal, random stops working, but good enough
This product has the potential to be amazing. It brews a decent cup of coffee. Cleanup isn't necessarily ideal and could be described in the manual - it isn't. After a month, it stopped working for a few days. The brew function stopped brewing on grounds unless you selected the grind 3-4 option. After several mornings of trying it started working again, meaning the light would turn blue, you could press the ground button and it would start. Maybe I got water into a sensor or something, somehow when cleaning it? I'm concerned it will stop working again.Edit: There's a sticker that kind of blends in that shows the entire chamber can come out for cleaning. This is not in the manual, so I updated to 4 stars.Edit2: Troubleshooting your coffee makers normal problems1) internal press doesn't go down: check that everything is situated right and hit the power button again. Wait till it concludes the cycle again.2) coffee chamber full but coffee not draining: pull out the coffee pot and reinsert it. If that doesn't work somehow coffee grounds are covering the drain top inside the chamber.3) coffee maker will not brew but power button lights: open the coffee chamber, put everything back in tight try again. If this doesn't work hit another setting.4) coffee maker power button won't light: is it plugged in? If so just check the chamber, filter and top to ensure everything is tight.

The Straight Scoop
My wife uses a full sized grind and brew maker to drink weak coffee throughout the day, and because I only want two cups of stronger coffee, I chose the Chefman, and it is a great purchase. With the provided scooper, I use 3 scoops of whole beans to make a full pot, and I get 2 large mugs of hot rich coffee. The grinder is not loud; it takes about 6 minutes to brew the pot; and cleanup is as easy as rinsing the parts in the sink. Towel dry and you are ready to go again. REALLY.....this is simple to work and clean, and the coffee is hot and delicious. Yes, there is a new plasticy smell initially, but that dissipates after 7 brewings. I was worried after reading some reviews here, but operating and cleaning this machine is intuitive and quick, and the coffee is hot and good. The machine quality itself is great...not at all flimsy or cheap looking. It has a small footprint on the counter and a contemporary look. This was a great purchase.

Disappointing
I was so excited to get this for my 90-year-old mother. I knew that she would be challenged. I was thinking when I would visit we could have fresh ground and brewed coffee. My mom used it for a very short time and gave it to me(I told her I was going to order one for myself). Got it home, oh dear I had a hard time it spilled out of the crate, can not make a full 4 cups. The best I can do is 4 scoops and please no more and water to the 3 cups. So it may be perfect if is one person that only drinks one cup! That is it.Cleaning is no fun, difficult, the basket comes out but it is bottomless so the grounds stay.I would return it, but I do not have box and well I will be honest I collect coffee machines. This one is cute, only wish it was not so sensitive.

Works when it wants to.
The media could not be loaded. When it works well, it’s amazing. I love that I can freshly grind the beans... it’s fantastic.. but when it doesn’t work- it REALLY doesn’t work. It overflows and there’s no way to know when it’s just going to decide to do it.. and it’s usually on the morning you’re late for work and now you have a mess and no coffee. .. I would not buy this again. Next time I’m just getting a bean grinder and a regular coffee pot.

Great coffee, lot of parts to clean
Fresh coffee from beans all in one. It does the job. Takes around 7 mins to make coffee. But the coffee is worth the wait!!It has lot of parts (filter, grinder basket, lid, carafe) that you have to clean or rinse after each use. But as indicated, it is all worth for the end product.I thought I can eliminate carafe from using/cleaning and directly catch dripping coffee in a cup. There are two issues with it. (1) it has drip stopper and carafe pushes it up to engage the stopper. (2) you also get heating with carafe, with cup the coffee will get cold in 7-8 mins it takes to fill a cup.

Great tiny grind and brew coffee maker!
This is the perfect compact grind and brew coffee maker! It’s the smallest I could find, and fits perfectly into my tiny kitchen. It’s about the same height as a Brita water jug.Follow the instructions and brew only hot water before using. The smell of plastic lasted a few days and so I did this multiple times before brewing any coffee. The 4 cups measurement makes about 1.5 mugs in real life, so is perfect just for me. If you have two or more coffee drinkers in your household wanting coffee at the same time, this machine would be too small I would say.Great tasting coffee, easy to clean, compact. I love it and would gift it too.

Small but mighty grinder
This coffee grinder/brewer fits into my tiny kitchen nicely but is not for a family of coffee drinkers. The carafe capacity is one pint (20oz), which is two cups in my cook book, but whatever. The first photo shows a regular (North American) sized coffee mug. I get nearly two full mugs out of this brewer. The grinder works very well. I found three heaped scoops for a full carafe is strong enough for me.I bought this as a more environmentally friendly alternative to my wonderful, over-used and now aging Keurig machine. Clean up on this machine is messy and it takes ages to dry out enough to reassemble without fear of getting musty. There is not one filter that you can just empty into the composter. If you see from the second photo, the little filter basket open bottom fits onto the grinder part which is where most of the grounds end up. I'm on a septic and very careful about putting things like coffee grounds down the sink. It is OK, but I'm glad I didn't spend too much money on this item. The assembly instructions are a bit off too, but that is easy to work out for yourself.

Useless machine
It would not grind my beans, only a few of them, so the coffee that came out was like dishwater. Then, when adding more beans, no liquid came through at all where it should; it just overfilled the whole machine and flooded my counter, cleaning the machine itself and everything around became a very big job, one I would never want again. I would dearly like to return the machine, but cannot now find out from where it came, so I am stuck with this item, which isn't even good enough to give away to some unsuspecting soul.
