Eskimo Ice Anchors keep your ice shelter in place and secure on windy days. Widely-regarded as the best option on the market. These self-tapping anchors feature sharp points making them easier to start before quickly screwing into the ice the rest of the way. The large handles are easy to grip and twist with gloves on.

Saves wear on the sled and tracks like a laser beam
The kit comes with 3 quality runners which fit my Eskimo Evo 2IT 2-man shelter Eskimo Evo 2It 2-Man Crossover Ice Fishing Shelter, Red perfectly. It includes the mounting hardware and requires you to have a drill, bit, socket or wrench and phillips screwdriver to install. I've installed runners on 2 other sleds before this one and found these to be a little easier to work with because they were actually not as thick. There are no pre-drilled holes so you first have to create the hole that passes through both the runner and into the sled. Each runner has a channel that runs through the center (think "U" shape when looking down the rail held longwise out in front of you like you would aim an arrow). This channel does seem to help the sled track a little better as it lacks friction through the channel and it handles surprisingly well on ice, snow and slush. You do sort of have to tug the front at a steep angle to get it to turn sharply because the tracks grip so well. Sharp turns are so infrequent (i.e. loading, pulling through tight trails etc.) so this is not an issue. The provided hardware has stainless nylon insert nuts and washers which prevent the bolts from backing out or rusting. They only stick up on the top side about 1/3 to 1/2" depending on the thickness of your sled but this also prevents you from sliding things easily as you are loading up your gear. Example is a tackle box that I store under one of the front seats of my shelter, I end up having to lift the front edge up because the nut acts as a stopping point against the container. This requires me to lift the container over the nut to push it the rest of the way forward. Not a big deal and certainly any other sled will not be different unless you happen to mount the rails against a protruding section on the bottom. In the case of the Eskimo sled, there are pre-molded channels that these rails sit it on the OUTSIDE which actually protrude INSIDE the sled. I'm giving the rails 5 stars because they are very helpful for pulling my well loaded sled and do provide plenty of protection to the very important sled portion of my ice fishing setup.

Game changer, really reduces time to set up hub shelter!
For nearly a decade I use to keep a drill bit in my drill, drill a hole in the ice, then hand tighten my anchors in. This took a few minutes to sometimes get the whole shack up. I had found that without drilling a hole, the anchors are nearly impossible to get in the ice by hand. This tool removes the step of drilling a hole in the ice and hand tightening the anchors down. It literally takes 4 seconds to install each anchor using this tool. Due to that, 5 stars and seems like a necessary tool for hub shelters. I would never go without it anymore.

Too bad they didn't update the picture here on Amazon and ...
Please make note: The pieces shown in the picture here and on the Eskimo website are solid. But the ones you actually get are actually hollowed out...apparently to accommodate the bolts. Interesting that the instruction manual you can download from the Eskimo website for this item also shows they are solid. But the instruction manual you get with these has been updated to show them hollowed out. Too bad they didn't update the picture here on Amazon and on the Eskimo website. While the runners do appear to be good quality otherwise, if you were looking for the longest life span possible by using solid runners, they may not be for you since they will certainly not last as long as if they were solid. If you don't mind the updated version....go for it.

Perfect tool fortheir ice anchors
Perfect tool fortheir ice anchors. Not to big and clumbersum like clams is. It is heavy metal and built strong to last. Has flats on the insert for the drill to grab better. Thought about making one, but I knew it wouldn't be as good. Glad I bought it!

Must have
Perfect for putting anchors down quickly. Especially on a windy day or extreme cold day. -30 on the first day i got to use this. Saved my hands and other body parts by being able to anchor my pop up so quickly.

What a difference
Works great on my Eskimo anchors, as much as I didn't want to carry more gear out onto the ice (the drill), it's worth it. Anchors go in quick and easy, about 5 seconds, versus what sometimes is 5 minutes by hand. It also can wind up your tip ups, can be used as a bottle opener, and the hex is the same size as the bolt on a power auger bit.

poor quality control on one of my anchors
One of the ice anchors came with an in unwelded washer. The washer on the other anchor is welded to the shank as it should be. Its necessary for the washer to be welded to the shank so it secures the shelter snuggly to the ice. The anchor with the loose washer lets the shelter floor whip in the wind and allows blowing wind and snow under the shelter. This whipping of the shelter bottom will inevitably lead to a torn base on my ice shelter. Going to try some JB Weld to secure the washer in place because its useless the way it is.

Great quality for the price
Haven't tried threading them into the ice as of yet but the quality seems very strong and if they work as well as OEM hooks than they are great there's two sizes large and small I purchase these larger ones and am very happy with the size and quality hopefully they don't rust and they thread in as good as the ones that came with the tent eventually the points break off the originals

Great little tool for installing ice anchors using a drill.
Love the unit. I use a drill with my auger so carrying a drill and using to install anchors is much easier. Being a short senior using manual ice augers and manually installing anchors is not an option. I wish they included as a package with Eskimo ice huts which are great.

Best ice fishing gadget I’ve ever bought
I was always a strictly out in the elements ice fisherman. The a minus 40 day gave me some mild frostbite on my face. Next Christmas I received pop-up hut from my lovely wife trying to keep my ugly mug presentable. Taking the hut up and down was really keeping me from being as mobile as I was used to. That’s when I found this wonderful tool. It cuts the setup time in half and removes almost all of the struggle associated. Like most anglers I bought many fishing related gadgets over the years. This is by far the best I have ever bought. It will be staying on the top of my bag and not relegated to the box of shame like so many gadgets.

Work well
These are the same as the screws that come with the ice tents. They are great replacements for lost or damaged screws.

Wicked!
This thing is a life saver if your anchors have been used and aren't super sharp. If it's real cold and you have trouble by hand, this thing rips them in quick. Only downside you need to add a drill to your gear if you dont already carry one around.
