John Guest PPSV041212WP Plastic Push Shut Off Valve, 3/8 in. Tube OD, White

Just like all Speedfit John Guest products, this valve attaches quickly and easily to John Guest tubing. The connection is leakproof as always with John Guest fittings. This is used with water pressure of 80 psi, but it is rated for much higher pressures for cold water. The valve is easy to turn and has performed normally over the last eight months, with no leak. We turn the valve back and forth about once a week. If needed, John Guest fittings can be disconnected from tubing using an inexpensive removal tool. There are optional plastic locking collets that can be added to John Guest Speedfit connectors to prevent inadvertent disconnection, but these are rarely used as an accidental disconnect is exceedingly uncommon.By the way, these are made of polypropylene and are NSF61 listed, so they may be used in a food service application with other food safe materials. Ideally, use these with John Guest LLDPE 3/8" tubing to be certain of food safety and excellent fit. I don't recommend using alternative branded (or unbranded) equivalents as you have no assurance of NSF listing and food safety.

The first end of the gadget connected with a reassuring "pop," signaling a secure fit. The other end was a bit more stubborn, not clicking into place right away. Sensing something amiss, I applied pressure to both ends simultaneously, and sure enough, the second "pop" confirmed a successful connection.When I turned the house's water back on and switched the new valve to the 'on' position, water flowed smoothly with no signs of leakage. The feeling of triumph was immense! This quick, five-minute fix cost just a fraction of what hiring a plumber would have, with the toughest part being just moving the fridge.This DIY solution proved to be a highly effective, quick, and cost-efficient way to add a necessary shut-off valve, enhancing the practicality of my kitchen setup.

Working great for 6 months, no signs of leaking. The knob remains smooth to turn. I would certainly buy again.

My use was to replace one that had failed (knob was WAAAY stiff after 10+ years) on the feedline to my espresso machine. Works perfectly; these fittings are nice in that they're removable from the tubing without tools in seconds if you have some need to get it apart and the seal is made by O-ring and is very reliable.

John Guest is the way to go if you want a quick release valve that is great quality.

I was changing the filters on my RO system when my valve started to leaked. I ordered this valve and it worked great and appears to be a good quality.

Does exactly what it's supposed to do. No issues with 3/8" OD tubing. Just cut it square and push to fit. Zero dripping -- great seal.Seems solid but I'm not sure this is made for high-frequency use -- if you're turning it on and off 20 times a day for months on end, it's not hard to imagine performance eventually deteriorating...
