Foldable, portable, transparent sound.
Needed to replace my old broken studio cans but wanted a pair which I could carry around a lot more easily than previously was the case. Not many of those on the market but I chanced on these AKG245's which seemed to fit the bill. I plumped for these as I use my phones for radio broadcasting rather than mastering so I like the open backs because my ears don't get too hot on a three hour show and the studio is quiet enough that I don't have to worry about the sound leakage from them. Also, the phones are largely metal rather than plastic so are likely to prove very sturdy. I do a minimum of 2 shows per week, quite often more, and prefer to use my own cans rather than any which may be laying around the studio. This means they are in and out of the gadget bag on a regular basis. Strength and compactness are therefore important. These AKG's fold nicely and easily fit into the drawstring bag which came with the other accessories in the box. I occasionally do live DJ gigs and these will be much more suitable for those jobs compared to the larger non foldables I had used to avoid buying another rarely required expensive pair of DJ cans. Now, on to sound quality and comfort. Having worn them last week over a three hour period I am impressed with the very level frequency response and the transparency and openness of the sound from the 50mm drivers. I had read much about the accuracy of AKG's professional range and have to say I am not disappointed with the sound at all. Very easy to listen to for long periods. Relatively comfortable to wear although I did find that the inner diameter of the pads were a bit smaller than I'm used to. I will probably consider looking at replacing these with a pair of Brainwavz pads as these are slightly thicker and have a larger central diameter hole than the OEM pads. Self-adjusting headband and my head and ears weren't hot after all that time - may not be for everyone though as I have a small head for a man.Price was amazing and the sound was every bit as good as my old Studiospares open back cans.

Decent cans for a decent price
Overall these are a great pair of budget cans worth picking up. Build quality is fantastic with nearly all load bearing components being made of metal and construction overall is clean. I have seen some other reviews stating that they don't hold up over time, though I'm yet to see this personally I wont rule it out yet as I have owned these for barely a day.Sound quality is great. A bit muddy in the mids but crisp highs and great bass. That being said however, while these are great for casual listening and music production, the Samson sr850's simply blow them out of the water when it comes to casual listening, and for $7 less at the time of this review.I'd been using the sr850's for the last 3 years though became frustrated with the build quality after my 3rd pair and needed something with a detachable cable. The sound is by no means disappointing however, and you won't feel like you've made poor purchase based on it at all. It IS good, however the sr850's simply do better in casual listening and soundstage. This is coming from someone that has tried headphones from $10-$250.Carrying case is pretty and protective, the cable provided is also fantastic and high quality.

Sound
Bought for mixing music. Nicely made, look good. Quite heavy and no adjustment and i agree with another review on yt that they sit a bit low... I think a piece of sponge between frame and headband would raise it just enough to suit me better. The earcup material is nice and soft. So i bought them rather than spending on headphones amp to drive a better pair i have. These perform plenty loud enough from 3.5 output of audio interface and bass is there but not too forward so i can work with these. The mid is to my mind a little harsh when turned up beyond normal listening.. not distorted... Maybe they would burn in with more use idk. Cable is replacable and quite stiff but doesn't feel like it will tangle. Semi open back design doesn't sound different to closed back as far as i can tell. Fold nicely. Worth the money.

Excellent build quality and premium feel.
For the price I wasn't expecting these to be as great as they are.My girlfriend needed a relatively cheap pair of headphones that folded away. I use AKG K550's but they were too big and expensive for her, but because I've been happy with AKG I decided to check if they did any folding headphones. The K175's were only a quarter of the price of my K550's, but they nonetheless have a premium feel about them and have some advantages over the k550's1. Unlike the K550's, the K175's fold away easily and come with a nice waterproof carrying bag.2. The K175's come with a detachable coiled mini-xlr cable which can be replaced. The K550 (mark 2 onward) also comes with a detachable mini-xlr cable, but not the coiled kind. I actually find myself wondering where I can buy another of the coiled cables.Whilst I do prefer over ear headphones, these sound really good and have a similar build quality to the K550's. Other than coming in cheaper packaging I can't imagine how it's possible for these to be as good as they are.

Very neutral headphones
The AKG K245 is worth the price. The sound is neutral with nice and even lows. The sensitivity allows you to drive these while plugged into a laptop or smartphone. But it’s perfect as a studio headphones also. It’s a closed back headphone so it has a generally smaller soundstage. Isolation is average. The original pads give a weird sealing effect which i dont like so I switched the pads for a less padded pleather which gives more space around the ear and fixed the problem.I was going to return them because i also have an AKG K702 which sounds incredible but is a different animal and requires a headphone amp. I ended up keeping these because they fold up, theyre made sturdier, and more versatile (do not require a headphone amp).

My favorite pair
I have the K-245 and its twin the K-275, they are warm, FUN ans easy to drive (32ohms). I use them for music listening and tv. I'm not a bass head, I don't find they lack bas at all. Both, k-275 and K-245, are way bassier than Ath-m40x (even with big leather pads). The k-245 are much louder than Philips Shp9600, but their soundstage is narrower (Shp9600 are wonderfully sounding headphones by the way). The pads are pretty shallow, I have world smallest ears and they touch the foam on the driver, but I find it comfortable. Maybe shallow pads help sound seam louder... I just bought the k-245 and Of the two, k-275 and k-245, I think I prefer the 245... and the 275 were my favorite pair of headphones. Build quality is the best I ever owned/seen. They don't look cheap, they don't feel cheap, squeaky or loose, these are metal and they are tight. Clamping force is just fine. Buils quality is WAY better than audio technica 40x, Philips shp9600 and Lyx-pro Has-30. If you want an open pair of headphones to ear yourself singing, look elsewhere for a more open pair (Grado, Shp9600, Shp 9500...). Oh! and for 108$CAD, I don't know any better headphone (I paid more than 250$CAD for the k-275 in 2020).
