Don't buy!
If you don't know how to read ABG's before reading this book, then you still won't know how to read them after reading it. It is no help at all. The author claims that by answering 3 simple questions about an ABG you can then interpret it. Here is question 3: "Is the abnormal pH caused, compensated, or exacerbated by the PaCO2?" The trouble is the author never explains how you can tell if an abnormal pH is caused by the CO2. Simerly, he also never mentions how you might be able to tell if an abnormal pH is compensated by the CO2. How can you tell if the abnormal pH is exacerbated by the CO2? I wouldn't know...because the author never says. Three simple questions and he leave you with no ability to answer the third question. All this book did is put my money into the author's pocket.

probably due to crappy print job from publisher
The book is misaligned and formatted wrong, probably due to crappy print job from publisher. Nevertheless, it's a good book to practice "rapid ABG interpretation" provided that you have basic understanding of acid/base disorders. What the heck does BE stand for?
