Tomb Raider Underworld- First Impressions
I remember playing all the old Tomb Raider games and I really enjoyed them. However I haven't played some of the later games because they just weren't as good as the beginning ones. Now I can say that Lara is truly back and the game is terrific. The graphics are much improved and Lara is quite the hot chick. Controls are easy to use on the PC and you can turn on aids that help you use the right ones. The puzzles make you think but are not too difficult. If you've played the old TR games then they shouldn't be too hard to figure out. However if you've never played any of her games then they might seem difficult. The treasures that Lara finds are so far not hidden and are out in the open, unless of course there are some I haven't found. This is one of the complaints I had about the game that the treasures are all the same and the game doesn't tell you what you found. The AI could be tweaked some more because the enemies don't really come at you aggressively. If you lay back they leave you alone and there are some areas where they won't follow you. Also, so far using a Windows Vista Quad Chip and a Nvidia 8500gt, the game did crash twice which surprised me since the game had been up to then very stable and easy to use. The puzzles could have been a little harder to solve but you do have to think about ways to do things. There are no issues with DRM and the game automatically resumes to the last game saved. All in all a very good game that relates to the Lara of the past. A definite buy. After playing the game for a few days now I have to say that it is better than I thought it would be. There are some obstacles I had trouble figuring out and had to go to a website for help. I noticed that there were quite a few people who were stumped. Also there are some controls that you have to learn how to master. So it's not that easy which makes the game even better and more challenging. I'm really enjoying it.

Lara never looked better!
I've played every Tomb Raider and they always looked better with each edition. This is now ,what, Tomb Raider 9? This is not on par with games like Half Life, Far Cry, or Rez Evil 4(bad controls and all) in terms of action sock'em. Tomb Raider is not those games. We stroll through jungles, search digs, swim, ride vehicles, and swing around in multi-dimensional worlds.Lara's version here is a super clear more HD version of Legend or Anniv.. It is not difficult, but you can't put it down. I played this game on my PS2 first, and then bought the amped up PC version next. The difference between the two was a shocker. The game, graphics, game play, doesn't even look like the same game. The fire on PS2 is a orangey blur, and PC version looks like fire. When you get to the jungle, Lara actually interacts with foliage as she walks thru it, and you hear her walk thru it too as she brushes it aside. I thought Far Cry jungle scenery was awesome, and this is maybe better, I wish I could have taken some screen shots the scenery looked so good. No Tomb Raider to date rated screen shot capability. At the beginning of the game, before the jungle, she is on her yacht, and it gives you a screen sequence that looks tremendous.Game is tougher than the PS2 version. Reilics and treasures are more numerous and trickier to find. I found that if I used the thumbstick conroller with the mouse it really made cruising through water and jungle more fun. I bought he PC version sometime ago but was only using one of my under-powered computers. Using PCI-e video card will really help with this version. If you enjoy TR games, you won't be disappointed, but don't try this without some decent hardware. I'm going back to playing TR now.

EVEN BETTER THAN TOMB RAIDER 2013!
This installment in the Tomb Raider series was, for me, more demanding and much more expansive than TOMB RAIDER 2013, although that game, too, was superlative and very difficult.twists and turns of plot abounded throughout the game, but the player finally gets an idea who's behind all of the evil when he reaches the ship full of cargo labeled: ATLA.The hardest parts of this game were the timed sequences which caused one to want to pull his hair out!The graphics, for 2008, were extremely well done, and my hat is off to EIDOS and its superb staff of engineers, testers, production people, graphics, voice and music divisions for a job done far beyond the call of duty.Lara was beautiful, as she was in TR 2013, and she could really jump, evade, grapple, swing and kill off enemies. This game was very tastefully done, with no excessive gore or blood and no brutality. It was done the way games should be done, and I only wish there were more Tomb Raider games available. Right now, all I have left to play in this genre are LARA CROFT AND THE GUARDIAN OF LIGHT, which I don't care for due to camera angles and other problems which I won't get into, and TOMB RAIDER: LEGEND. And, although the graphics in LEGEND are all right, it seems to be missing the mystery and pizzazz of UNDERWORLD and 2013.These games (TR UNDERWORLD and TR 2013) were the greatest I have ever played, and I recommend them highly to anyone who cares to "take the plunge."
