With more and more HDTV's excluding component inputs, an HDMI solution for the Playstation 2 was needed. This is the best I've found yet. No, it won't make your games look like HD upscaled versions, but it will give you a clean PS2 image without all the blur and softness of other cables. It's also the most affordable solution I've found as good quality scalers can cost hundreds on dollars. I've seen cheaper converters but the picture tends to look much worse. It's also nice to have the option of selecting wide or standard screen with a switch on the device which is also conveniently powered by a usb connection to the PS2. I prefer the standard as that os what most games were made for. I found that the 'screen fit' option on my TV widened the image enough without stretching out the picture too much. Once, I got playing, I forgot to notice that it wasn't full widescreen anymore. I'm very happy with how my games look. I still have have a PS2 Slim and hundreds of games so this was a big deal for me. Without something like this to play it on modern TV's, it's almost worthless. This was well worth the asking price and I've experienced no problems with a number of games over the last month that I've had it. I'm including some screenshots of my PS2 games on my HDTV. Looks even better in person. ***For some reason, it will not allow me to turn on Progressive Scan in God of War. The screen just goes black until I turn it off. Perhaps it's doing that itself. Not sure but the image still looks good. See for yourself. Recommended.

Over the years when it comes to Playstations I've used about every kind of cable you can imagine. I've used composite (blurry), S-Video (screendoor effect), component (EMI rolling bars), and most recently, HMDI converters. The first two HDMI cables I tried from other companies were terrible, and pretty good respectively. But I noticed the last one had a double image and and blurred text really badly on one side, so I thought I would give this cable a shot and see if it could improve the picture. Wow!!! Apparently some people don't like an upscaled RGB signal and to those I can only say...go back to buying component cables and get yourself one of those line-doublers that cost hundreds of dollars, I'm sure you will be very happy together. As for everyone else... I personally like my picture on the "soft" side. For me the mortal sin of video signal is "over-sharpened". What other people like to call "sharp" S-Video and Component looks to me like a screen door and a pixelated mess. Yes, to be clear, raw 480p signal from a Dreamcast or a PS2 is about the ugliest thing I have ever seen on an HD display. I MUCH prefer to see a 240p or 480i signal upscaled and made as clear and SMOOTH as possible. And smooth it is. As others have pointed out, the cables from this vendor that upscale strike a nice compromise when the signal is RGB. The signal is sharp, but not TOO sharp. It's smooth, but not blurry. It's a perfect compromise down the middle, and in my book, that's as good as it gets. RGB The last cable I used was composite to HDMI and the difference is striking when it comes to colors. The colors with this cable using RGB are much brighter and the color saturation is much better. Playing Gran Turismo 3 which previously looked like mud, now is clear enough to see what's on the screen, and I think I can safely say it looks about as good as it possibly can. There's no distortion, no blurring on the one side like the last cable. There's a switch for aspect ratio and in 16:9 the picture COMPLETELY fills my screen. No black bars on the sides like composite and composite converted to HDMI. Perfect. I was actually torn about which of my game consoles to get these cables for first. I have a Genesis with it's blurry composite, an N64 with it's dim blurry composite-to-HDMI that keeps dropping signal, a Saturn with it's bright but slightly blurry composite, and two PS2 (one North America, one Japanese). The one I play the most that has the worst picture (by far) has been the PS2. The Playstation 2 picture is simply garbage overall compared to the Xbox (which outputs 1080p signal that upscales beautifully for HDMI cables). Most of the games have horrible aliasing, jaggies, and in composite signal looks horribly dim and washed out. Unlike the Dreamcast the picture of PS2 just isn't clear and bright, and there only so much you can do with it. That said... The best you can do for PS2 games is either play the conversions on PS3/PS4 or play the games on PS2 with a cable like this. Both options will upscale and output smooth, clear picture (well, as clear as it gets). The most noticeable thing with this cable is that text is really, really readable, and the colors are the most vibrant I have seen for PS2. Again, if you like that pixelated over-sharpened look, look elsewhere. Get component cables and one of those fancy over-priced line doubles and go to town. But if you want clear, SMOOTH picture, THIS is the cable you want.

This LevelHike HDMI adapters are impressive at their price point. Believe me you will not be disappointed and will not get a better full set adapter for only $30 dollars. I Have 3 PS2 consoles. The SCPH-39001, SCPH-70001 and SCPH-77001. Also Nintendo GameCube and Nintendo Wii. All 5 consoles using basically the same adapter. They all work flawlessly and look very good on my LG QNED 85A 100 inch tv. It also plays PS1 games on the PS2 very good as well. Some people have complained about this HDMI not working and turning there start up screen on PS2 green. It’s not because the HDMI Adapter is not working properly. As you as you start it up on your PS2 you need to go to your system configuration and go to Component Video Out switch it over to RGB and they should resolve all the green screen issues and you be able to play without any problems.

I bought this hdmi converter to use on my Sony TV since it's in my bedroom. It unfortunately looked weird (as seen on the images how the left is stretched over to the right). The image is also unstable (constantly shaking left and right) as well as the controller feeling slightly delayed at times. I could never figure out the fix, or why it was like this, so I gave up. I emailed levelhike too, and they were very friendly about it, but they also haven't gotten back to me with a definitive answer as to why it doesn't work properly for my Sony TV. I've seen another review on Amazon (as well as a few comments on youtube) that this hdmi also didn't work properly for their Sony TVs and it's just strange and frustrating. Anyway, I have a Samsung TV in the living room so I decided I might as well try it out there. Turns out it worked perfectly fine on that TV. Absolutely no issues with the image, and the controller feels more responsive. I feel like it even looked sharper/more clear too. For some reason, it looked a little off and blurry on my Sony but again I don't know why. Maybe the other brand, Hyperkin, might work better with Sony TVs but I don't know as I have yet to try it out. I gave this 4 stars because of how great it was to finally play my PS2 again after many years in storage. I really want to give it 5 stars, but since it doesn't work on my Sony TV, and since levelhike hasn't emailed me back with an answer to my question (I asked if they thought it was Sony themselves that lacked support for these types of cables) then I just have to give it 4 stars. I'll try to update my review if they ever get back to me about what they think as it seems like an ongoing issue. But I will say that I actually bought their other hdmi converter for Gamecube, and it surprisingly worked pretty good on my Sony TV. The image quality was a little worse than PS2 (to be expected) but I had no issues at all with that one. Edit: I tried the other brand, Hyperkin, but it unfortunately had the exact same issues. I will say that maybe Hyperkin looked slightly sharper with the image compared to Levelhike, but the only drawback is that you can't use your own Hdmi to plug into, it already comes with one and it's a medium size in case anyone wanted to get one. Edit 2: just wanted to update that I've been trying other HDMI converters to see which work on my Sony TV. So far the only one that has properly worked is one called ElectronPulse. You can buy it through their website which I did so I'm not sure if its sold elsewhere. If you've been having the same issue as me, this might be the solution. I see that they're out of stock on their website as of now, so definitely keep a lookout if you want to try it. Edit 3: In my continued search to try more HDMI converters (to try and find the best), I watched a few videos online and someone had recommended Kaico's PS2 HDMI, which you can find on Amazon. I wasn't expecting much because I heard a lot more talk and praise for ElectronPulse (especially since its a higher price). But I was pleasantly surprised because the quality is so much better. I honestly gotta say that Kaico's PS2 HDMI is so far one of the best one's I've tried. The difference in quality was subtle yet powerful. Colors popped more, blurry textures or images looked more cleaned up, and text was sharper. A bonus is that it worked for both my Samsung and Sony TVs, so I imagine it would work for more brands. I highly recommend anyone to try that one out too. You won't regret it. As a plus, Zeskit Maya has certified 2.1 8k HDMI cables and those are the best ones I've tried compared to basic HDMI cables. I think you'll be satisfied with your PS2 if you also upgrade your HDMIs also. I'm just trying to find the absolute best quality for the PS2 (without breaking the bank like a lot of high end upscales cost) and so far I'd say Kaico's PS2 HDMI converter, Zeskit Maya's 8k HDMI cables, and a decent to good 4k tv is the best.

Freaking awesome! The graphics get cleaned up so well with these newer 4K TVS. Well worth the price. If you’re debating about getting one that’s a lot cheaper, DONT. That’s exactly what I did and I very much regret it!

No complaints. I have one for my snes and my ps2 and I ordered another one so I have a hook up in my bedroom for the ps2/1. Looks. Better than composite so price is great. I would need to see a better one in action before I spent any more money than this. Great product.

I purchased this a few weeks ago when I did an x-station install on my PS1 console. It’s basically a disc emulator so you can play PS1 games from an SD card on the original playstation hardware. This levelhike cable worked really well for the first week or so. The picture was a lot more clear than composite so I was very happy. Then after a few days I started getting audio issues. Basically I start the PS1 console and hear the sony logo audio sound that PS1s are known for but it starts a bit late so when the audio kicks in it’s already towards the end of that first part of the Sony logo sound while the screen is white. Then the screen turns black and you see the playstation logo. After that the x-station will load to a menu with the game list and of course there is no sound in this menu but once I load a game from that point on it will have no audio while I play the game. To fix this issue I have found that while the game is playing I can unplug the USB cable that powers this LevelHike device and then plug it back in and then the audio will start playing. It’s almost like theres a glitch and you have to keep reseting the device by cutting the power to it and then plug it back in and it will function properly but I have to keep repeating this process every time I load a new game. So I was doing this for a few days and all was fine. Every time I played a new game I would have to repeat this process which sucks because I have to keep getting up to unplug it then plug it back in. So to solve this problem I decided to use the TV usb port and just turn the TV off while the console is still on so that it cuts the power to the LevelHike device and then turn the TV back on to feed it power again and that worked ok for a few days. Anyway, after that the problem progressed to the point that it no longer works at all. All I get now is a black screen with no picture or audio. The TV says no signal. So I tried messing with different HDMI ports on the TV. Changed the aspect ratio on the LevelHike back and forth from 4:3 to 16:9 and cutting power on and off to it multiple times with no luck. I went and did a return with Amazon and they sent out a replacement right away. I just got that replacement today and this one was even worst than the first LevelHike device I received. This one doesn’t work at all. I tried troubleshooting and there is no audio or picture. The TV is just black and says no signal. I contacted LevelHike’s email cause they give you card that tells you that you have a 1 year warranty but it also lists all the problems on the warranty card and one of the problems listed is all the problems I mentioned above with audio and no TV signal so it seems like this is a common issue with their products. Which leads me to believe they don’t sell quality items. They basically apologize on their warranty card saying that if this happens to you then you got a faulty cable and to let them know and they will send out a new one. So that’s why I emailed them but we shall see how good their customer service is but I am already disappointed that their quality control was not better to begin with and I don’t know if I can trust their products in the future. I give it a 1 star because of all the headaches and even if they give me another device for the 3rd time, I wonder how long will it last? I don’t have faith it will make it past a few months. So ultimately I recommend all of you to look else where for another more high quality product. These cheap solutions are not worth the hassle if you ask me. Amazing, as advertised! To anyone wondering, this is it, does it all. going from the original cable and a hdmi converter to this is night and day difference. Does it all for a fraction of those cost of the expensive ones everyone is recommending.

Upscaling is good and sound quality does not breaks or static noise, only thing I noticed is the conector might be just a little bit bigger than the original cables so I had to apply some wiggling to push it in but it works fine. I used it for my original PsOne with an LGC1 model 65inch and it runs soooo smooth

I bought this on a whim as a way of simplifying my set-up a bit. My PlayStation has normally been hooked up via an S-Video cable running into an adapter (the RetroScaler 2x), but I wanted something a bit more convenient. While I know there are better options than this out there, this was definitely the most cost efficient one. (This cable cost C$35, while something like the Rad 2X - after conversion - comes out to over C$100!) I gave it a quick gander, and I’m pretty happy with the results. The video is definitely clearer than S-Video (with both putting the standard composite to shame), and it does what it can with the PS’s native resolution of 240p/480i. While this does upscale it to 720p for its output, I found those results a bit iffy at points - though I am running this on a 4K TV with a resolution of 2160p. There were definitely some jagged lines and blurriness looking at it up close, but from a distance, it wasn’t as noticeable. I think ultimately my personal preference would’ve been to just have it output its native resolution for my TV to upscale, but most modern TVs don’t handle those resolutions well, so I understand LevelHike’s rationale. For fun, I did hook this up to my PlayStation 2 as well just to see how it looked with that system. I don’t intend on keeping it on that system, as I have a proper YPbPr adapter for the PS2. I put on both a PS2 game and a PS1 game to see the differences. I found the quality comparable for the PS1 games, though it may have looked slightly better coming from the PS2 than it did the PS1. The PS2 game did look better than the PS1 games in general, but that was to be expected. I would still leave my PS2 outputting via component/YPbPr, though. Overall, I do think this adapter is a great solution for the price, hence my 5 stars. There are definitely some faults, but for the price, I can’t complain. I think if you’re just wanting a simple plug and play solution without taking a hit to your wallet, this will more than suffice. I’ve attached some photos, though be aware they are taken from my cellphone so they may not be completely representative of the quality of this adapter. The last three are the SpongeBob PS1 game running on the PS2.

Cable doesnt work. I email levelhike, who were initially very supportive and said they would ship a new one after i showed them pictures of the problem and my invoice. After seeing i am from belgium their customer support said they dont ship to belgium and i would just have to return the item via amazon. So i did, this week received the item back from amazon returns saying this item isnt part of their return policy. Levelhike also never responded again after being told this happened. Hopefully receiving refund.
