Needs an editor and proofreader
I forced myself to read the whole thing, even though I was frustrated by the awful writing (never use one word when six will do seems to be the rule here), the lack of organization, sweeping conclusions based on little or questionable evidence, anthropomorphizing of pea-brained fish, and historical errors ("Edmund" Ringwood Hewitt would not approve) among other things. For example, one word may be spelled two different ways within a single paragraph, and that happens in more than one place. The book reads as if it were dictated and then transcribed verbatim, with no editor involved. Angling books - with some exceptions - should not be held to a very high standard of writing, but they should at least not insult the reader's intelligence. But what really bothered me was the section on cooking trout and salmon. Atlantic salmon are in trouble all over the world except for a small number of rivers. No one who cares should be killing and eating wild Atlantic salmon (Pacific salmon are different), and no one who cares should be buying Atlantic salmon from a fish market or eating it in a restaurant. Salmon aquaculture in estuaries is an environmental outrage that threatens wild salmon and sea trout populations because the salmon pens are breeding grounds for sea lice, they over-use antibiotics, and they create significant pollution. This final section of the book is both irrelevant and harmful.

Truttasourous
The first reviewer might have been smoking crack while reading this book, or not. Either way I completely disagree. I almost didnt get it because of him. The author is Articulate and generous with his knowledge. I didnt see any misspelled words hence my suspicion of dude... Stop smoking crack or drinking that haterade! I am addicted to fishing especially for trout. Brown trout hold a special place in my heart and this book certainly scratches an insatiable itch. I started off casting the piers of Lake Michigan now I am trying to learn as much as possible to catch salmo trutta on the fly in harbors and rivers. If you are anything like me... Get this book! This book is awesome!

Finally a real Fly Fishing Book about the fish.
Fly fishing literature has always played a big part of the culture of Fly Fishing. If you have been bored by instruction manual, test book writing asI have, you will certainly enjoy this Masterpiece. Bringing Art and self expression back to fly fishing literature, this monumental work is puree unfiltered Matt Supinski. This book is the book that only he could write. With so much meat on the bone this is the look that you will turn to, over and over this winter. This great book is sure to stand the test of time as the impact book that brought art back to literature and changed the way we look at Salmo.

Must Buy Great Read
Matthew Suspinski has spent a lifetime pouring his soul into his latest book.Take the time to read Chapter 2. It is here that the power and awe of our planet earth spaceship takes on true meaning...so much more to mother earth than politics, radical self-serving ideas and ignorance.Climate change is real. We are all living it, especially river and ocean folk.
