The draw to me is a rechargeable flashlight that: 1. Will last until I get my money's worth. 2. Will not leave me in the dark unexpectedly. 3. Satisfies my urge for fun toys.This flashlight nearly completes all of those goals. The LED's can last a very long time. The solar cell can charge the battery for years to come. You don't need access to a battery store or mains power to charge it. If you are caught needing light more than was stored in daylight, you just crank it a while. You needn't crank it generally, so the crank won't wear out for a long time. It falls short in that it has a (replaceable) lithium ion battery with only about a four or five year fixed life.

I will be able to tell how long the charge lasts better when I take this up north to the cabin. Love having the crank as back up. I will be getting more of these for Christmas gifts this year.

We bought one of these, and then a few more. One is used daily at the house. I stick it on a window sill in the morning, and over however many years now, I couldn't tell you (quite a few), it's never required cranking. I keep one in my backpack for hunting, also in each vehicle for any time we need one. Plenty of light for getting around the woods if you need it. All in all, just about the best flashlight for general purpose I can imagine. Ours even go out in the cataraft, fly fishing.

When I received it, the flashlight was not working as it was not holding the charge after I wound it up or left it in the sun during the day - either the battery is dead or the flashlight is otherwise defective.Maybe I was just unlucky and got a lemon? Even if it was working, I do not like the on/off switch which is one of those soft cushion switches, instead of a hard switch with a slide to on or off position.The cover for the battery is also difficult to remove.

This flash light did not work so was returned for a refund
