Selected this particular unit, after much research, to reset the 15,000 mile Service Due! dash warning light. Other criteria included being a stand-alone unit (no need for a non-Mac laptop) and the ability to unlock the EPB for rear brake pad replacements. For the Service Due! warning it worked on a U.S. Spec. 2015 Audi Allroad (although not exactly like it says in the accompanying manual or on You Tube. It was simpler). A second observation was that it reset the car's MMI for oil and service intervals to 10,000 miles each. Didn't give it 5 stars because of the instruction guide not matching what actually occurred.

Worked properly less than once.
Other reviewers were definitely correct about the fact that it takes a good 20 minutes to do a full scan. It goes through EVERY possible option your vehicle could possibly have, but those options at least don't show up in the final list. I did run into a few potentially serious problems and will update this if unable to resolve. The scan did pick up a few problems I wasn't aware of (VW's are infamous for electrical gremlins, so I wasn't too surprised), but it showed DTC codes in the transmission (which I expected). Upon going to open the codes, they not only disappeared, but an error message occurred. Upon trying to scan again, it suddenly couldn't. My old scanner can, but it doesn't scan certain areas. I attempted to run a full scan again and now it won't even scan my brake system and several other systems. I'm going to try again in a few days to see if it was just a fluke, or it's going back. The other thing I had noticed is that it uses standard OBD II codes, not VW codes as well as its own descriptions for the explanations instead of the industry standard. I recommend having quite a bit of experience if you're going to use this (and hope it works.)

It has a color screen but couldn't talk to my VW TDi to perform the fuel prime sequence...
I purchased this tester to prime my 2009 VW Jetta TDi after losing it performing a timing belt replacement. The inexpensive Xtool 401 claims to be able to do this so I had hoped that this seemingly much nicer product could handle the job. It claims to be able to communicate with VW specifically but the only options available were to handle oil service and to assist with electronic parking brake service. I already have a perfectly fine OBDII reader ( http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005KOZ25Y?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_search_detailpage ) and really just needed to communicate with VW's über complicated vehicle management system. The Rosstech VCDS tool is the preferred aftermarket solution but I needed a solution promptly and this seemed like a reasonable solution. I should have just ordered the Xtool 401. If that tool disappoints I'll end up waiting on the Rosstech...

Hardware works, interface is terrible, software is horrendous.
For the price, I expected an upgrade from my previous $12.99 scanner. But this is not a good product.- While I don't expect the interface or user experience of an iPhone, I expect something simple and logical. But it's a huge hassle navigating around this device. Nothing is where you think it is.- The accompanying website is, put simply, terrible. It constantly asks you to login again. The software downloads make no sense. It tells me there's an update to my device and doesn't allow me to update it.- If you have a Mac, forget it. This device's software only works on Windows.- If you save test results, your only real option is to view it on the device, while it's plugged in. You would think the existence of an SD card would change that, but it does not.- "Playback" function only gives you discrete faulty codes you manually decided to save -- it does not show you entire saved scans. For that, go back to the car and plug it in.All in all, this scanner does what cheaper ones do. The price is inflated because it includes a (useless) software disc, a cable, and a carrying case. The software is terrible, both on and off the device. The experience is a huge chore -- much more annoying than the $13 scanners out there.

I have a 2009 audi A4 Quattro, the electronic break system function works great with this scanner. Just remember to buy or rent the tool to push the break piston in you can rent it at autozone . I changed my Breaks in a dress shirt, and slim fit pants. Very, very easy to do. Tool works great Thank you if you need help changing ur audi A4 breaks email me if can walk up through it. [email protected]..... it will save you $1300 instead of going to the dealership. Thanks for Redington

Product is OK, the seller AutelZone is not.
AutelZone is not associated with Autel in anyway. They are just trading on their name to sell gray market or used items as new. The VAG505 product works well enough, but it was no longer supported (discontinued) by Autel the day I bought it. Although I bought it in 2016, I just learned it has been discontinued for more than 5 years and is no longer supported. Merchants like AutelZone are what makes the Amazon experience a bad one (when it happens).

Worked perfectly to fix an Air Bag code on my 2010 VW. Easy to figure out if you take your time to go through all the selections on the screen. Interface with the vehicle was good though a little slower than other scanners i have used. No issue with it..

Great scanner. Does what it claims and also has expansion slot. It's an older model now, but I'd buy from the same manufacturer again.

This does NOT do any coding, only OBD... does not turn on/buzzes after updating
I already own an Autel MaxiDiag so I bought this one, thinking it would be capable of changing some settings/doing coding in my VW as it’s a VAG tool.Unfortunately, this code reader works as solely as an OBD scanner and can give you dealer specific codes but cannot do anything for coding or changing any settings. My old Autel device is capable of doing way more than the new one, including some coding and displays dealer specific codes which is annoying because it isn’t even a VAG device like the new one is...will be sending this one back.If you’re looking to change some settings or do any coding, there are other items available on amazon ($79, and $27) that do much more...Update:Tried to update the software, it was successful - plugged it into my car and the device buzzes really loud and does not turn on. Avoid.

Works great!
Bought this to reset the maintenance reminder for my 2013 Q5. It does that, as well as clearing error codes that come up occasionally. Works great!

Not even close as described
The cut of this coat is not for someone with an athletic posture.: it was tight over my hands and shoulders and large over the waist. The fabric looked cheap . I returned it
