Master Shots gives filmmakers the techniques they need to execute complex, original shots on any budget. By using powerful master shots and well-executed moves, directors can develop a strong style and stand out from the crowd. Most low-budget movies look low-budget because the director is forced to compromise at the last minute. Master Shots gives you so many powerful techniques that youll be able to respond, even under pressure, and create knock-out shots. Even when the clock is ticking and the light is fading, the techniques in this book can rescue your film and make every shot look like it cost a fortune. Each technique is illustrated with samples from great feature films and computer-generated diagrams for absolute clarity. Review: Five Stars - Great product, price and delivery. Easy to follow instructions very informative Review: Useful to any filmmaker - I really like this series of books. Between the three books in this series over 300 camera shots are covered. If you are shooting a film, whether it’s a short, feature, no budget or big budget, this series of books can help you figure out your shot-list. I do wish the pictures were better. They are all black and white, even one in particular that discusses using color in your shot. Other than that a detailed reference series that will be useful to all filmmakers and video makers.

Great for beginners, may be helpful for more advanced filmmakers
Master shots is an INCREDIBLE book for a beginner / intermediate filmmaker. It does not spend any time going on and on about the history and reasoning for doing this or that. It just starts page 1 – to do this effect put the camera here, put the actors there, move the camera this way, change the focus in this way as you do it. The explanation for each scene that it goes into is two or three pages long. Then it starts the next scene example. The camera here, the actors there... Sometimes a snippet of the psychology behind doing something a certain way. Professional / advanced filmmakers maybe would not get a lot out of this because this is probably things they already know or already do. But if you have a little bit of time to read, it would be worth it for them because they may pick up some little idea in here that works out great for them. I'm a beginner level but just reading the book stirred some ideas in my mind that were not even given in the book. So for this reason they may also like it. The intro to the book suggested this as well and it was right.

Excellent for filmmakers who REALLY want to learn their craft and not just play around! Excellent book for anyone behind the camera, thought provoking and practical reading and in practice.

I am a television student at the moment and I've found this book to be an excellent buy. The techniques in this book make you view camera work in a different way; glad I bought it.

Hands on straight to the point
Ich finde dieses Buch sehr hilfreich. Man findet sofort was an sucht und muß sich nicht erst durch theoretisches und intellektuelles gerede kämpfen.
