Compact yet Super Powerful for work....!
This is an amazingly compact, fast and effective CPU. Boots up in around 10 seconds, runs multiple applications and virtual desktops (work) seamlessly. Supports my 4k monitor and wireless keyboard+mouse set very well. Does not heat-up at all & not much of fan noise. Has enough connection ports and seems to be built quite sturdily.Room for improvement1) Wifi - range is average, so I had to shift the router closer and the speed increased dramatically.2) Not meant for intense gaming I guess, whilst graphics are nice, there is lag in refresh rate. Tried age of empires 4k version.Nonetheless, I bought this for my productivity purposes and I am extremely happy with this compact yet super powerful computer!

Great powerful little computer
An excellent and powerful little machine. I’m thoroughly impressed by this computer. It’s very quiet and runs so well. I love this form factor now.The build quality is great. I'll list what I used so you know what works for sure as these Intel NUCs can be pretty picky about the type of RAM used. For the storage you can choose larger or smaller or different brands:- I installed 16GB of DDR4 RAM (two 8GB sticks). The one I used is called the following on Amazon: 'HyperX Impact DDR4 HX424S14IB2K2/16 Memory 2400 MHz CL14 SODIMM 16 GB Kit (2x8 GB), Black'.You can go up to 32GB of DDR4 though if you want (two 16GB sticks).- For storage for my first internal drive I used a 500gb nvme m.2 SSD. Tthe one I used is called the following on Amazon: 'Samsung 970 EVO 500 GB PCIe NVMe M.2 (2280) Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) (MZ-V7E500)'. Of course you don't need to go with this exact model, just letting you know what worked for me.- For my second internal hard drive I used a 1tb SSD. It's called the following on Amazon: 'Samsung 860 EVO 1 TB SATA 2.5 Inch Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) (MZ-76E1T0)'.If this is your first time putting one of these sorts of things together, I would recommend watching some videos on YouTube first, it's pretty straightforward though.Everything has been running well. Was very easy to put it together. Highly recommend this computer, especially for this price.Works just fine with one monitor, but I'm using a dual monitor setup. The first monitor is connected from the HDMI port on the Intel NUC to my monitor's HDMI port with a normal HDMI to HDMI cable. The other is connected from the Thunderbolt 3/USB-C port port on the Intel NUC to the second monitor's HDMI port, I just used a USB-C to HDMI cable and it works great. The one I used from Amazon is called 'USB Type C(Thunderbolt 3) to HDMI 4K UHD 1.8M Cable, Benfei USB 3.1 (USB-C) to HDMI Adapter Male to Male Gold-Plated Cord'. I'm using 1080p monitors by the way even though the cable says it goes to 4k.You can also use a USB-C to HDMI adapter at the end of a normal HDMI to HDMI cable or something like that for the second monitor too.Highly recommend this computer.

Fantastic small PC
This is a fantastic small PC. Fitted it with 16GB or RAM ( 2 x HyperX HX424S14IB2/8 Impact DDR4 8 GB, 2400 MHz CL14 SODIMM XMP) which was recommended by a previous reviewer who said that the NUC can be sensitive about the RAM it needs, and 1 1GB PCIe SSD (Crucial CT1000P1SSD8 P1 1 TB (3D, NAND, NVMe, PCIe, M.2, Solid State Drive) which is a new consumer grade SSD. The crucial SSD gets less than stellar reviews on specialist sites but in the real world I don't notice any difference in speed between it and my Matebook x Pro (i7 8GB)which does have a very fast SSD and the Crucial SSD it is very significantly cheaper than other drives of the same size. Windows 10 Pro was courtesy of the seller Sunny Ent. London(Windows 10 Professional 32 bit/64 bit English International | PC | Download ) so the whole outfit cost just under £560. Assembly was very easy and quick (the RAM is put in at an angle and then just clips in rather than having to undo a clip first - you will know what I mean when you come to install it). The PC is tiny and virtually silent - there is a tiny fan that you can just hear when right next to it in a quiet room. You should look at this as using the equivalent of a high end laptop rather than a full PC as it unsurprisingly uses a Laptop processor and had no dedicated GPU. Having said that the latest i5 is quad core with eight threads so is pretty powerful so you should have no issues with software such as Visual Studio or Adobe Lightroom. Overall very pleased and it should save quite a lot of electricity compared to the tower PC it replaced.

Easy to install and works very well.
The fan can be Loud, but it's an easy fix if you know how to do it.

Does size really matter?
It does when you want a small and powerful desktop PC. The NUC far exceeded my expectations and is highly recommended. I work in IT and I think this is all most people need in their home to be honest. This nice piece of compact kit comes with a neat bracket so can be hung on a wall or on the back of a screen making for more desktop space. love it.I5 is more than enough for photo editing and working from home via a VPN.
