I do like this book
I do like this book, however, I didn't count but I feel like there there were more negative emotio s than positive ones. I read a few each night to my four year old daughter and I didn't want to leave her with a negative emotion but some nights I had to. It is also too advanced for small kids. It's probably more suited for kids around 7 and up. My daughter did like it and asked questions and tried to mimic some of the emotions which was cute and I will keep on reading it to her. We did love the art work. We liked talking about it and how it fit with the emotion.

... this book for my children and I am only disappointed that it's not more widely available or better known
I bought this book for my children and I am only disappointed that it's not more widely available or better known. The artwork is truly stunning, and the book is quite useful. We will be glad to have it in our library for a long time to come.

They seem very engaged and enjoy the language as well as the illustrations
I use this with gifted students to help them express their feelings more precisely. They seem very engaged and enjoy the language as well as the illustrations.

Amazing book - illustrations are breathtaking
Amazing book - illustrations are breathtaking. This is the kind of book that you can read at leisure with your kids -- hopefully to get them to express, verbalize, and understand those feelings that sometimes frustrate and overwhelm us all. Great for gift-giving too!

wonderful resource
LOVE this book. Beautiful illustrations. The descriptions of each emotion are great for kids to even understand. I have been using it in my classroom. Kids of today need to understand their emotions and why they are feeling the things they are feeling and healthy ways to deal with them. I love that this book connects each page to the one before it.

Missed potential
Bought this book for 15yr old who sometimes struggles with their emotional intelligence. The language used in the text is generally fitting for an older teen but some of the examples given are very young indeed eg reference to ‘your puppy chewing your favourite toy’ which doesn’t quite fit with some of the complex vocabulary used. The use of the term ‘fireman’ instead of ‘firefighter’ is just sloppy, not gender neutral and irritated me! I also wish the intro was without the ‘information for grown ups’ statement; again makes the book seem childish. However, despite this, I think it will be incredibly helpful and the illustrations are stunning. I feel there is missed potential with this book and I hope the beauty of the book isn’t ruined by 15yr old feeling insulted or patronised to have received a ‘children’s book’. I’m keeping the book as I consider there is more to like than not to like, but am a bit disappointed with it. I think as a guide, recommend for age 9 to 13. I think the language is too grown up for younger children to appreciate, but the examples are too young for older teens.

Good for kids or adults
Sometimes it's nice to read something different with the kids. With my kids, we like to choose an emotion, read about it, and discuss any times when we may have felt such emotions. So it's a great way for kids to think about how they feel, and an opportunity for you to find out more about them. Love it.

Beautiful but to be used with caution
This is a really beautiful book and I love the design and approach. My only issue is that I frankly disagree with some of its messages; the bittersweet essence of nostalgia for instance is missed. I guess this might be due to translation, but mention as a note of caution if using this in teaching activities as in my view, it is over simplified and inaccurate.

Stunning images
Bought for use with my SEN students. Works really well with them being able to use some of the colours to consider how they feel and work towards why.Came very quickly. Some students just love looking through the pictures. Very useful resource.

Calming and healing
Love this book. Well illustrated and captures the emotions very well. My son loves this book and at the tender age of 7 struggles with his own emotions so this book explains a lot to him. We often sit and read parts of this book. Has a calming healing effect and very useful. Book for keeps. Great for children and adults alike.
