Just as described. I'm switching over my classroom to all 3 yrs olds and it's come in very handy to know what's safe and what's not.

I didn’t know what this was until I worked as an early childhood educator. We had several in each classroom and as a soon to be parent, I recommend for any new parent wanting to put safe, age appropriate toys in your child’s room. Easy to use just place the toy I. Question in the larger side on the cup. If it sticks out should not present a choking hazard. If it does not stick out of the cup, do not let your child play with it.

It is good to know precisely which toys are a hazard and to just remove them from the home while a teething child is around. The precision is helpful so the other children can still have many toys around and understand the safety test. They can even help test toys and be proud of helping keep their baby safe! Also, every parent should know: Small toys are not just a risk for babies. Yes, babies put things in their mouth; toddlers teethe and put things in their mouth, but do not expect it to end there. Even with knowledge not to chew on things, young children return to putting toys in their mouth as they get adult teeth. That is, the teething stage returns along with choking risk! I think every home should have one of these. It is so much more accurate than the "toilet-paper-tube test".

It is just a cylinder that you put things into to determine if they are large enough for a baby to play with. Nothing more. No, you don't really need to buy one if you have common sense (or want to use the toilet paper roll method)...but if you have a hubby that dismisses everything as being "too child proof these days" and he needs specific guidelines (I love this man, but sometimes...!) then THIS is the perfect argument-killer for you! Its easy- does it fit inside? Yes? Then baby can play with it when he's older but not now. Presto- done! I've seen him check something with it-- so its done its job as far as I'm concerned! Hey, in a world where we drop thousands (!!) on baby items, this is the simplest, easiest "non-essential" to justify having in your junk drawer. Seriously worth the effort of hitting "buy"!!

Expensive, but extremely useful to check for choking hazards.

Gives me piece of mind! Taught my 3 1/2 year old grandson to use it with me & he took an interest in picking up his small toy pieces with me before baby brother wakes from nap time.

I had one of these years ago, and just kept it in the kitchen. I do daycare, and I use it as a tool to tell young Moms what's to small to send to my house.
