The only (non flip cover) case you need
Pros:-Sleek design-Compact form-Works well with screen protectors-Nice grip-Excellent protection-Lightweight-Cutouts are awesome-Feels great in hand-Volume buttons-Roomy for input (charger, headphones, and etc.)Cons:-Really expensive (except when it's not)-Plastic scratches easily-'Grip' comes apart-Durability issuesThe Speck line of cases is by far the best lightweight protection available for your phone. They offer a wide range of cases for many makes and models of phones including Samsung, Motorola and in this instance, HTC. Oh yeah, Speck caters to the Apple folks with a large slew of interesting protection choices such as a case/stand for the iPhone. Android users have a slightly smaller selection per device probably because it is harder to keep up with the ever expanding universe of Android phone/tablet choices. Overall, after using Speck cases for my two phones, I can assure you that it is a very solid choice and definitely a better choice (in my opinion) than bulkier options, such as the Otterbox behemoths. This 'grip' case offers exactly what it advertises, a smooth plastic candy like exterior with grippy protrusions. The candy shell grip case is my preferred choice over the candy shell precisely because of the grip. Think of it this way, the grips on your case prevent the phone sliding across the table thus avoiding the inevitable drop from a precarious height. Speaking of protection, this case excels in that department, so much that the phone could probably be thrown and survive completely intact (please don't try this) which I have inadvertently done on several occasions. My only suggestion would be to also invest in a screen protector as this case does not have one built in like the aforementioned Otterbox. Otherwise, the feel of the phone with it almost glued to your hand makes all other cases quite inferior. And, the color choices for Speck cases are very nice; they try to get creative with each product line. Personally this black and grey offering is rather bland but if you do some searching you will probably be able to find something more appealing. However, if basic and (in my opinion) standard protection of your several hundred dollar investment is what you desire, look no further than Speck.Recommendation: If you still need a case and don't want a flip cover case, buy this immediately and thank me later for avoiding broken glass.

Great Case! Would Definitely Recommend!
I bought this case for my M8 the day after I purchased the phone, and I haven't had to buy another case since.Overall, I really like the design of the case. It is very easy to put on and take off. The rubberized design makes it easy to clean, and also gives it traction in your hand. The openings for the charging port, headphones, and power button are all perfectly fit to the phone and are easy to access. The volume rocker is rubber, very easy to access even when using the phone with one hand, and are matched perfectly to the phone's volume rocker. The rubber "ribs" on the sides of the case are especially helpful for getting a good grip on the phone, especially when holding it with one hand. This is probably one of the best features of the case, considering most use cases involve holding the phone with one hand. I have never felt like I would drop my phone while holding it with one hand with these "ribs."However, one drawback is that these "ribs" can make it difficult to get in and out of your pocket, and can actually make a fairly loud noise when the ribs rub against your pocket when putting it in or taking it out. Also, the M8 is quite thin without a case, so it's noticeable that this case definitely adds some bulk (thickness and weight) when you hold it before and after. That aside, this case is great. I have dropped my phone multiple times on tile, concrete, carpet, etc. and my phone has never sustained any damage.I would definitely recommend this case, and the Speck brand in general, to anyone I know.

great for butterfingers
Upgrading to five stars after a year's useβ¦the rubber ribs are still firmly in place, the case still fits like a glove, and it still has no more than minor scratches, which are not visible without a very close look. Best of all, due to the great grip butterfingers me has dropped it only a few times and with no harm to the phone. Highly recommended.--------My philosophy is that the best way to protect your phone is not to drop it in the first place. I let the Verizon salesman talk me into buying an Otterbox Commuter case. Serious protection, but I found it to be bulky and slippery. So I switched to this Speck case and have been very happy. Excellent fit and works beautifully with a Spigen glass screen protector. After three months it still looks great. I rather expected that the rubber ribs might start to separate from the case but they are firmly in place. I have the white case and though there are minor scratches in the plastic they are not visible without a very close look. It has survived a few soft drops with the case remaining firmly attached. Four stars instead of five because I'm not confident that this case would provide a lot of protection in a fall onto a hard surface. But, most importantly, it's easier to hang onto than any other case I've held and that's exactly what I wanted. Combined with the glass screen protector I think this will provide good protection unless I throw the phone across the room. Would definitely buy it again.

2 years later and its still great
I've only had good experiences with this case. I've had it for about 2 years now and my phone has yet to get damaged. The soft rubber around the mirco usb port did rip because the rubber is thin in that section, but it does not hinder the effectiveness of the case. My phone has full functionality with this case, it even leaves a small gap along the top to the IR strip on the phone is not blocked by the case. I highly recommend. this case!

Love it
A really sturdy case, that gives excellent grip on my otherwise worryingly smooth HTC One M8. The IR blaster still works too which is great. The only down side is that the hole for a headphone jack is a bit too small for the cable I use. It shouldn't be a problem for most since my cable's jack surround is quite large, but it does cause me some audio connection issues (typically though I use blutooth so not a problem).

Worth the money
Had one of these for my old HTC One M7 and it lasted years, greate grip and solid enough to protect the phone. This case for the HTC One M8 looks to be more of the same :)

As simple as a Speck
Very happy with this case. Was a bit concerned that it was too simple and not as sofisticated as other cases however, it is exactly what the you need to showcase the natural beauty of the HTC 1M8 and most importantly, it eliminates the problem with the phone constanty slipping from your hands. Well done Speck!!
