Milwaukee GIDDS2-288935 Digital Multimeter

I love this thing. Works great, has been super reliable (owned it for 4 years now) and was a LOT less expensive than the "other" brand. I also got the optional soft case for it, which I also really like. Highly recommended.

First off, this does have an auto off feature. Seems this is not advertised and some even say it does not auto shut off. Maybe it's a newer feature???I came from a Fluke that was left out in the rain and died :( Did not feel the need to spend the $400+ to replace it. The display on the Milwaukee is AMAZING! Can see it in the direct sunlight and in complete darkness.

Though I had miss place it, so I purchased an exact replica of the one that had been misplaced, after a month I had found the 1stOne now ivd got two, keep one at work the other at home, very good investment.

I gave one star not for product but for shipper the product without me testing it.Milwaukee always my favorite.So the reason for one star is they've sent me a returned product that was returned by different customer.

Saw one of these at home depot and decided it was time for a new toy and was shocked to find zero reviews in the amazon community. In terms of accuracy I have no major complaints, though. Don't typically work on circuit boards nor equipment sensitive to demand six sigma calibration. The main reason I purchased this particular meter is that I liked the idea of hi viz lit black on white display ( more on this later). An option I wished they would have had on my 8 year old gb gdt295a or my 5 year old greenlee dm110 in terms of accuracy I do not have a bench nor the equipment to prove true calibration to factory specs, BUT all three of the meters measured resistance across a bulb within .8 ohms ac voltage within a half a volt and dc voltage within .1 volts....i really dont like to measure amperage with a dmm and prefer clamps for safety so that feature is available for those of you braver than myself. Likewise i dont have much occassion to measure capacitance not hz but they are also features available. which seems to me that these meters are reasonably calibrated...or at least well enough for residential electrical systems and for the avid do it yourselfer. (due to the taper)The display is almost unreadable when the light is not on...should it fail sometime after the warranty has expired this thing will be little better than a paperweight. Although when it is on it stands out like crazy...not sure yet how this affects battery life I believe I saw something like 30 hours of battery life should be expected.The operational instructions are brief for those of you unfamiliar with multimeters.That's about it....my largest complaint is that I cannot read the display when the light is not on, but as long as that holds out it's definitely a keeper.

It has great visibility indoor and out versus the standard version, I tried both. Includes a temperature mode and probe. Very rugged. A tool that is expensive but I will keep a very long time.

I bought this item for my boyfriend for his birthday. He works with cars and said he loves it hasn't had any problems shipped in decent time and was in package brand new. Good price as well
