If it lasts, it will be great
I got this flash because it supports TTL while mounted and the Nikon CLS wireless TTL triggering as well. It has a nice solid build and comes with a stand and soft case. A diffuser would be nice, but it's not a biggie (financially or impact on images).I compared it to my SB700 flash, and it seemed to work just fine attached to my D7100 as well as off-camera. Comparing direct shots between the SB700 and the 565EX, the 565 was slightly lower exposed, but not really much at all. The color of the light seems identical.I probably wouldn't purchase this as a main flash unless the budget was really tight. But for 1/3 the cost of my SB700, I have a capable backup flash unit that can be also be triggered remotely. I also have a Metz that supports TTL and CLS, so I can now shoot 3 flashes individually controlled. The user interface isn't as bad as I feared. The Metz flash is much more complicated to remember. The external power pack option is a nice feature, as is the PC-Synch, but I doubt I will ever use either. Coverage is nice, flip-up white card and wide-angle diffuser are permanently attached to the unit.I ordered a Pixel Pro King to test out, and have some fears that it may not work with this flash. But, that's more like pie-in-the-sky hopes. If it works with that, I will be very pleased.I did test it with some standard radio triggers in manual mode, and no problems at all.Recycling time seems reasonable. My biggest complaint is that it's loud. You can turn off the sound, the but I think I will try to locate the speaker and cover it with some tape (a trick I do with the kids toys to quite them down some).Given the fact this won't be a main-use light, I'm hoping it will last long. Longevity is my biggest concern. But I have a 460 that I've used on and off for several years now, and no complaints there.UPDATE: I tested this against my SB700 and Metz 44AF and at 1/1 Manual power this flash output the most power. Continues to perform nicely.

Great Flash!
This is a great flash. I got it in the mail yesterday and I tested it out in various settings. I'm a pro wedding and family photographer and this flash is great as both a backup and primary flash. It's a bit smaller and quite a bit lighter than the massive SB-900 flash. The settings were pretty simple to go through and figure out on your own even without the manual. Originally I hated that I had to hold down the button for EVER just to turn it on, but there's a way of transforming it into quick mode so it turns on and off with a quick touch. This is important for me because I'm constantly switching my flash on and off during a wedding reception depending on which lights I want to have firing off (I use triggers for off-camera flash as well). At $185 (with shipping) this flash felt like a steal! It's very easily comperable to the SB-700 or a younger brother to the SB-900.The TTL mode seems to work like a charm. Very accurate and reliable. It also recycles rather quick. I was firing off multiple continuous shots and I didn't have any misfires.BUY THIS FLASH! SAVE YOURSELF MONEY!

Works great, a real bargain.
The Amazon description of this item was careless. Amazon provides a menu to handle most any situation, but no way to contact them. Maybe they will see this? The top of page says "By Neewer". It should of course say "By Yongnuo".Top description says "YN465 has 7 power". This is of course a YN565, also with 7...Says GN 33 (which is true of YN465) but Yongnuo specifies GN 58 (meters, at 105mm) for this YN565.GN 33 also incorrectly appears in the lower description. The flash is awesome for two reasons, performance and being an amazing bargain. Its Amazon price varies tremendously, depending on which current vendor, but prices under $120 are impressive, almost as good as Ebay. The YN565EX works great on my D800 and D300, as manual flash and slave, or as hot shoe iTTL, or as a remote for the Nikon commander. No warranty expected from China, and a couple of minor features are not actually implemented, but performance is great. This is the inexpensive way to get first class flash. A review is at [...]

A MUST have item for many Nikon owners!
I've been buying a lot of photo equipment lately and this HAS to be one of my favorites. It's so awesome, I bought TWO. I also laid down $170 for a wireless transmitter and two receivers which function using iTTL with my two YN565EX GN 58 speedlights. Here's the link to the wireless system: PIXEL King Wireless Radio i-TTL Flash Trigger for Nikon DSLRs and Flashes, 1 x Transmitter and 2 x Receiver Kit This is the ONLY way to do flash photography. Using iTTL is a MUST. Every photo is lit almost perfectly. I can't say enough about these speedlights. Even if you can only afford one, GET IT! And then, if you can't afford the wireless connection, buy a $20 coil cable to get your speedlight OFF your camera. Trust me. This should greatly improve any amateur photographer's strobe work. Oh yeah, did I mention that my two speedlights and wireless system came to less than $500. Nikon sells ONE of their (less powerful) speedlights for more than $500.

Stopped working after 15 shots
Received it today and put it on my 7000. It was taking some great shots. Then the camera stopped recognizing the flash. I checked the pilot light and it never was going into "ready" mode, indicated by the red light. Also it would no longer do test flashes ( by pressing the pilot switch), plus the LED display light (the reddish backlight) no longer worked and I could no longer change any modes. Sad, thought this would be a great inexpensive alternative, but nope. Changed out batteries, nothing worked. On it's way back. You get what you pay for I guess

Awesome Flash for Beginners
Awesome Flash for Beginners. I used for my Nikon D5200. It can be used as ON Camera and OFF Camera Using Optical Slave Mode (firing speedlite using your camera's built in ttl flash)I bought a normal batteries first, it turned on and green led light pops, But the flash was not firing, after some online search I found that the battery I used is not enough for this speedlite and the LED should show RED light if its ready. Green Light Indicate low battery. Then I bought Rechargable Ni-Mh Battery (4 nos) with a charger and then it works flawlessly. This flash instantly improves the Image Quality, But some time we don't get the right flash even its in TTL mode, Some time over exposed and some times under exposed. So we need to learn how to use proper settings. The easier way is to take photo on AUTO mode first and then review their Shutter speed, ISO and Aperture. Then add the same in the manual settings and adjust as required.Pretty cool so far! Go ahead and buy it.

"Jammer!"
