Description: Hawthorn berries are aromatic berries with a strong flavour and slightly sweet taste. The berries are of a moderately firm consistency with 1 – 2 edible seeds. The colour varies from rich orange to reddish-brown. Origin and Production: We source our organic hawthorn berries exclusively from a remote mountainous region in Uzbekistan / Samarkand. Large parts of the region are certified for organic farming and are worked by the local organic farmers at harvesting time only. The farmers in this area have complied with organic cultivation criteria for many years and are proud of their contribution towards sustaining the natural balance. The hawthorn berries are picked by hand. After harvesting, the hawthorn berries are washed, the stalks removed and then gently dried using solar energy. The drying process is very eco-friendly, using a solar drying method that has a minimal impact on the product. Product purity: The hawthorn berries are pressure treated and controlled in Austria.
