Initial poor interface has been updated...thank you.
Okay...it looks like I am in the minority here when I say that this program needs work or more specifically contains plenty of glitches to keep the user entertained. It does several things very well, but also has problems doing others. What it does very well:It clones disks very well. This is a valuable function for those who can't sleep at night wondering if they will survive a computer crash. A bootable clone disk is the fastest way to recover your system complete with programs. Who wants to have to reinstall programs? Not me.It creates a full system backup and allows the user to easily schedule backups. It creates non-stop backups, backing up everything that changes, but does not include the Documents folder (Why?).Where it crashes and burns:It does not recover individual files and folders easily using the process inside the program. I have never successfully got it to work. It hangs up and I only receive the message "Queued" at the bottom of the program screen. It has no other feedback than that. I have been able to go to the backup file directly on an external hard-drive and find and copy the file or folder successfully. The interface does not work consistently and contains some interesting glitches like checkboxes that don't show check marks. There are no titles or popups to tell what icons represent. Yes, you can find your way around by clicking...if you have the time. There is a help file, but it is not very helpful in troubleshooting. It does not allow for partial backups. Forget just backing up an important folder or folders.More often than not it does not provide feedback to give the progress on what is happening in a process. When it does, the feedback can disappear...never to return. You just have to hope that the process will complete successfully. The program crashes...it has done so several times in the span of several days...with the old Windows info box coming up saying that True Image has stopped working. This does not instill in me a lot of confidence in this product. Also, my computer has hung up several times and had to be restarted after installing this program. I suspect it is the non-stop backup feature. I have turned that off to see if that will help. The upside is that I will probably continue to use this product to clone disks and do a full back up, but I will rely on my Norton backup utility for partial backups and FolderMatch for syncronizing folders and detecting duplicate files.Would I recommend this product...no...not in its current state. Come on, Acronis, clean up this program and you might gain more confident users.Additional comment: I wound up uninstalling this program because it would cause my computer to hang up or crash while it was backing up or performing some unexplained task. What a waste of money. I changed my rating to one star.UPDATE:I reinstalled Acronis and an update message appeared. I just said yes to install the update, and now the program appears to be working properly so far. There were several changes to the interface...labels appeared next to the icons...this makes navigation so much easier. I will be testing out the program over the next few weeks a post any additional findings here. I am currently upgrading my review to three stars.

Hewlett-Packard HP EliteBook 8740w Upgrade of HDD Boot Drive to SSD Boot Drive Can Work with this Software. Here's How.
My mission: upgrade the original 300 GB HDD hard drive that came with my HP EliteBook 8740w laptop to the Samsung 850 EVO 500GB SSD Samsung 850 EVO 500GB 2.5-Inch SATA III Internal SSD (MZ-75E500B/AM) to use the SSD as the primary drive / boot device. The included Samsung Data Migration Software CD will not work for this purpose because “OEM recovery partitions generated at the factory by computer manufacturers cannot be replicated.”HP OEM software has multiple partitions that include a Recovery partition and a Tools partition. It’s my understanding, creating a clone boot drive using ordinary software (including Windows 7 system image backup) will not work to properly copy these partitions. [I’m sticking with Windows 7 Pro (and am not being forced into Windows 10 thanks to Never10) as I lost an entire week of my life trying to recover from a Windows 10 malfunction that stopped search functions.]Acronis True Image 2016 worked great to accomplish the multiple partition boot drive cloning task. The CD I bought from Amazon in June 2016 is out of date and refers you to the Acronis website to download the current version. The 71 characters for the serial number you must enter appear on the paper included in the box. (You’d think we were launching a nuke.)I attached the StarTech SSD/HDD - Hard Drive Adapter Cable StarTech.com USB 3.1 (10Gbps) Adapter Cable for 2.5" SATA SSD/HDD Drives - Supports SATA III (6 Gbps) - USB Powered to the SSD and plugged it into the USB port. Then I rebooted to the Acronis media which started right up. The Tools and Utilities tab on the Home page offers “Clone Mode” and “Automatic” which accomplished the migration perfectly.Next, turn off the laptop, (remove the battery), remove the HDD from the chassis, separate the HDD from its holding “cage” by unscrewing the two screws on each side, and slide the SSD into the cage. (The two screws nearest the connection don’t seat deep enough on this SSD and make the cage too wide, so don’t use them; just use the remaining two.) Slide the cage into the chassis, and replace the chassis cover. (Replace the battery.)It booted right up for me. At this point, the included Samsung CD can be installed to use the Magician software which enables RAPID Mode for up to 2x faster performance by utilizing unused PC memory (DRAM) as a high-speed cache. The newest version of Samsung Magician supports up to a 4 GB cache on a system with 16 GB of DRAM.I am storing the HDD for any emergency rather than using it for backups should the SSD fail. I hope this review saves you all the hours I invested to learn how simple this can actually be.P.S. If you upgrade your memory, you’ll have to remove the keyboard on this laptop, but I was able to fold it back and make the installation without disconnecting all the cables.
