Sweeney's Mole Trap
After trying several different ways of disposing of those creepy critters, this has become my favorite type of trap. It works just like it is supposed to and is really effective. Like some of the other reviewers, I can't set the trap per the instructions on the box because my hand strength is not the best. I have to set the trap first, then place it where necessary. I secure the "t" handle in my big bench vise (in one end of the jaws). Then, with my left hand, I am able to pull down on the metal arch to compress the spring and catch the trigger on the top of the ground plate with my right hand. Takes 3 or 4 seconds, then off to hunt the little darlings.

we caught all 5 moles that were destroying our lawn and garden so I am very pleased.
I tried a number of traps including the scissor traps and I ended up having the most success with these because of the lack of intrusion that was needed into the actual tunnel system itself, the steaks sit to either side of the actual tunnel (I just had to flatten out an area of the tunnel with my foot and set the trap - no digging out the area to insert a trap and then covering my excavation once more and no worries about the scissor action of a trap being blocked by debris or not running smoothly, once set. After about two weeks, we caught all 5 moles that were destroying our lawn and garden so I am very pleased.

Be patient moles are smart.
I chased this mole around my yard for several weeks while he tore up my yard. I had two of these traps plus a similar plastic one made by a different company. The mole set off the traps on 8 different occasions but they never got him. I had gone as far as vertically inserting 12 inch twigs into his tunnels so I could tell his direction of travel when he moved through an area so I could concentrate the traps into an active but small area. Finally one day he set off one trap on one end while I was cutting the grass, it was another miss. A short time later a second one was set off with another miss so I realized he was somewhere in the kill zone. I started digging and found him. So yes they do work but in my case they did not kill the little bugger.

Great ideal
Tried them for about a week. No moles caught. Also tried some other traps the go in the tunnels. No moles with them either. Bought the poison worms and they were gone the next day. If I ever have them again am going with the worm.

This Trap Works
I have used this trap before and it works. Loaned my old one and it is now lost. This trap is well made of galvanized metal to resist rust. As others have said, you must tamp down the mole's runway and then set the trap over this spot. You must trigger the trap once to make sure the tines go into the ground with little resistance and then reset it. You can set the trap trigger so it will release at the slightest movement. This is a solid product.

It is extremely painful to set and that's if everything works right but ...
This thing is so hard to set it just isn't worth it. It is extremely painful to set and that's if everything works right but 90 percent of the time it gets hung up on something or the trigger moves off the plate that holds it in place when you are trying to get it set. As for catching moles, there isn't much room between the spikes so you have to line it up perfectly. Most of the time just setting it is so disruptive to the soil around you totally destroy the mole hole so I doubt they'd even come back through it.

Save your money
Doesn't work. Too narrow, mole keeps going around the stakes. Really difficult to get in the ground because the trigger sits too low and won't set if it's touching the ground. I have the plastic one as well which works a little better if you can get it deep enough in the ground but still isnt quite wide enough and then the stakes break off. Either way, these are some crappy product designs.

Don't waste your money don't waste your time
Does not work does not capture I've set it up every way I can think of I did it the way the Box told I did it in between the two molehills but has done nothing but sliced my hand open while trying to set the Trap the Trap is not easy to set your minutes sticks so I would highly recommend nobody purchase this product I don't know who got it to work but they're lying about this particular model and brand at least
