Ignore Bad Reviews!! This is a good keyboard!!
I had a tech build me an HTPC and he bought this keyboard. Opened it and it was dead. Then I read the reviews and felt like I bought a piece of junk too!! I even requested a return, but then I realized the problem. The batteries that came with the keyboard were dead. (They are "cheap" batteries) My husband and the tech guy tried putting in new batteries but still it was "dead". I was packing it up for a return and decided to give the batteries a try myself and lo and behold, both the tech guy and my husband had them in backwards! It took a woman to get them in right. Next I plugged in the USB that gives the signal to the keyboard and it worked perfectly!! Then I hit a key and a different letter appeared on the screen (as some reviewers reported) but I discovered the erroneous keys were due to "NumLock" being on. Hit the numlock key and the letters appeared exactly as typed. This happens even with letters that do not share a number key. There is no numlock indicator so it's up to you to be sure it is off.Meanwhile, I had bought a new, smaller and more expensive keyboard to replace this one. Now I have them both and truth be told, I like this one better. It's larger and more resembles a wired full-size keyboard. It also has more keys than the "querty" type. I decided to keep both so I will always have a back-up in case either fails. But this keyboard remains my first choice due to the size. It's not too big and not too small. For me, its' just the right size. My husband feels the same way. His fingers are way too big for a "querty" and this keyboard accomodates his big hand quite well. As for it not having a backlight, I just use a book light. They're cheap and bright enough so I can see what I'm doing in low light. Backlit keyboards suck up power and cause your battery to drain. A booklight or small flashlight does the trickI think the number of bad reviews serves to prejudice you against this product(like it did to me at first) when in actuality the problems in some cases are caused by the user. Two things to be aware of: keep putting in new batteries until you get it right, and make sure "numlock" is off when you type.Give this keyboard a chance!!! You won't be sorry!!

Does its job, but it's small and the keys stick
I got this to replace the full-size wired keyboard for my desktop, and at a glance it seemed like exactly what I wanted: it was compact, didn't have a numpad (something I never use), and has a built-in touchpad so that I could use it from elsewhere in the room without also depending on a wireless mouse. The first thing I noticed when opening it was that it looked much smaller than I thought it would be. None of the dimensions listed are helpful. The width and height given in the technical details don't seem to correspond to anything about the object itself, and the "product dimensions" describe the box that it's shipped in, which is much larger than the keyboard. If I had to estimate, I'd say that it's about 12-13" wide total, and the keyboard portion of it can't be more than 9" wide. The tab key is miniscule--not even half the width of any of the regular keys--which has been a big issue for me. I do a lot work out of a terminal and heavily use tab completion to make typing commands faster. Unfortunately, the Q key is where I'm used to finding the tab key, so I'll end up with random Qs all over the place. This actually made using tab completion take much longer! I have to actually look at this keyboard while I'm typing. The other problem is that, after about two weeks of infrequent use, the keys started sticking badly. Most of them have no more problems than a keyboard with a bit of gunk in it, but the enter key requires a hard press in exactly the right place to do anything at all, and backspace isn't much better. I've cleaned it several times with compressed air and with cyber clean gel (which did wonders for my old laptop's keyboard), but no luck. The problem is definitely the keyboard itself and not anything I may have gotten into it in the short time I had owned it.I went back to using my wired keyboard when I'm at my desk, the only use I've really found for this is changing the volume or pausing/rewinding/fast-forwarding a movie when I'm watching one from my bed.

Does what it says
This has been a love hate relationship with this product... but for the price that you pay for it its not a bad buy at all. Considering that there are other products out there for much more, this item filled my needs.Pros: The size of the keyboard is perfect small enough to not get in the way but not too small that you cant type on it, although if you have large hands it might not be too comfortable. The touch pad on this keyboard is pretty good and responsive and it sits in a good place to be useful, also the mutitouch works in Linux which for me was a big+. This makes me happy to see this built into the product and not something simply implemented in drivers. Device has a on off switch on the bottom which is a big + for me as well.Cons: Range of this product is by no means 30 feet like it says expect to get about 10 at max maybe 13. Also there seams to be a bit of strangeness on where you hold the device and its willingness to communicate with the receiver. If you place it in your lap covered up by your legs it will not work or be intermittent. Product is a bit flimsy but that's more just nit picking. Have to hit a key to wake the device up even if you just turned it on, not really a big deal tho.All and all I have 2 of these units and can happily report that they do not interfere with each other or even work on each others connector. I use mine for use on systems attached to the tv and they are great for having a keyboard still and fitting nicely on the table with the other remotes without getting in the way. They are not the smallest devices so if you are looking for that you may wanna look elsewhere.
