Upgraded fan relay for my Jeep. This is the ...
Upgraded fan relay for my Jeep. This is the upgrade replacement for the Jeep Liberty cooling fan relay, the OEM one lacked the heat sink and would overheat and fail giving a trouble code. This is the upgraded replacement, if you are replacing the original one on your jeep you will need some wire loom chafing protection for 2 hoses that go to the radiator, because the heat sink could rub on them. the newer jeeps and the ones that have had this replaced before already have that installed.

Some say, there isnβt substitution for OEM. Doorman has meet or perform better than OEM.
The price of this Fan relay was Quite great considering that most automotive part stores wanted $68.00 for this relay with out additional wiring. I laid a reasonable low price $40.00 for this part and it was a breeze to install. Even if you make a hatchery of the wire connection to the relay, youβll be able to solder a new conector that came With the relay.Ps the relay in the front behind the front bumper Cover facia.

Easy to install once the rivet is out
Had a p0480 code come up. Checked the fuse, motor fan relay at the fuse box, and finally determined it was the radiator fan relay. It is located in front of the radiator. For Dodge Caravan/Grand or Chrysler Town & Country, you need to take off the front cover (5 screws + 2 bolts + 2 snap in plugs). The hardest part of this replacement is getting the rivet out. I tried drilling it out using 1/4 bit. Got the top half off, removed the old unit, but had a heck of a time removing the remaining rivet. After some trial and error, I started with a small bit and worked my way up to 1/4 bit. Once the rivet was out, the included screw fit nicely and the replacement took only 15 minutes (not including my fight with the old rivet). Started up my van after replacement and the check engine light was gone. Search Youtube if you'd like a detailed explanation of how to replace this part. Make sure your drill bits are sharp. I've heard some reviews that the relay only lasts a few months. I will do another review if this happens. Compared to Mopar, this Dorman unit is a fraction of the costs. BTW, I only used the actual relay....did not try to replace the wiring that was included.

Defective part
Great price. Part failed after a few weeks. Replacement will be here tomorrow. Maybe I got a bad one. My fuel pump went out so I can't start my car. My daughter gets home from school. and tells my wife that my car was making a humming sound. My wife pops my hood and my fans were running. She doesn't like messing with car batteries. I'm at work with my wife's car. So needless to say, by the time I got home, my battery was dead. Fuel pump replaced today (hoping mechanic disconnected my battery). Yea, I had to go get a new battery because the fan module relay failed on me. As soon as I put on a new battery, the fan kicked on so then I definitely disconnected the battery when I installed it yesterday. Van towed last night, fuel pump fixed, replacement fan module will be installed tomorrow. Really hoping that this part last a very long time. Now I'm out of $130 for a battery because of this part failing so fast.2nd one which it was replacement failed also. In about month or so.

Lasted a few days shy of a year..
I've now replaced this fan relay 3 times. The first time was a dorman I changed in 2014 and it went roughly 90k miles but may have failed due to a faulty fan (also dorman).I purchased another dorman relay late June 2021, which now seems to be stuck in the on position. Even when the key is off/ out of the vehicle the fans will continue to run until the battery is dead.Dorman does warranty their parts but buying from Amazon complicates the process to make the warranty useless. Despite the minimal savings buying through amazon any further Dorman parts I purchase will be from a parts store to simplify the warranty when (not if) I need it.

Perfect fit
Had to replace the fan relay for my 2007 Dodge Caravan. Taking the old one out took a long time but this one was installed in a few minutes. This kit comes with a screw to replace the rivet that was installed by the factory... the screw is so much easier.Had other problems that I had to fix too so the van hasn't been used that much lately, but this seems to have fixed the issue I was having with the Fan relay.Tip: If you're replacing the relay and are unable to use a drill, taking the rivet out can be a pain. I used a standard screw driver to first pry the end opposite to the rivet on the defective relay. Once that is done, the same can be done to the rivet end to break it loose.

Works Great, hopefully it will last longer than last time
This is my 2nd unit, the price is good, however the first unit only last for 2 years. As of right now everything works great no issue, the replacement part matches original perfectly. Overall happy with it.

Fan stays on ...
Worked well for about a month, now I have to disconnect fan fuse every time vehicle is not running because cooling fan stays on, consequently, draining battery. Noticed same issue from other reviews.Luckily I heard fan running after turning car off, and addressed it quickly otherwise would have been stuck with a dead battery in time of need.Looking into buying a relay from reliable source. I've purchase many auto parts online, including Amazon, and for the most part have had no issues. For this particular relay, I advise to purchase from dealer and get OEM product.

Junk
Didn't appear to want to work first day it was installed. Brought to mechanic next day and everything worked perfectly. Worked for several weeks and now is stuck in the closed position with the fans running until the battery is dead. Did all the proper checks on the wiring harness and all wiring is perfect and switches on/off as it should from the PCM. Relay is defective junk. Pay the little extra on the proper part that actually works.
