I was slightly skeptical about this item, because of the mixed reviews. You just have to get the timing down for how long it takes to cut the ribbon. Too little and the ribbon doesn't cut and too long and the melted ribbon sticks to the wire. I needed this to cut 3 foot pieces of polyester ribbon to tie 25 heart shaped boxes of truffles with bows on top. This cuts the ribbon neatly and seals the ends, so there is not fraying.

I bought this last month and loved how it worked. It was simple enough to figure out and go through cutting a hundred ribbons (took about 30 minutes). I removed the batteries and put it away until I needed it again. When I went to use it after just a couple weeks, it wouldn't turn on no matter what. I sent it back and was given a replacement. This second one worked for FIVE cuts, after which it just completely stopped heating. Useless! Look at the other reviews and you can see this is definitely not a quality product. If you purchase, beware it's a total lottery as to how long you have until it breaks!

I read the reviews before purchasing so I was a little hesitant about the quality and durability of this item. I have to say that so far (used it at least 5 times now) it has worked perfectly. I put in some batteries, turned it on, and used it as directed. I held the button down for 5 long seconds (1 Mississippi, 2 Mississippi, etc) and have had no fraying and the ribbon has been perfectly cut and sealed each time. after using it I turn it off immediately and leave it open for a few minutes to let the wire cool. I don't know / understand the issues others have had but I think if you just take your time with this item you should be fine. and it makes the ribbon look so beautiful and professional!

Product arrived quickly. Took item out of package and inserted fresh batteries in product. Item would not work. had to remove and put batteries back in about 10 times for it to work. once i got product to work it worked great.

The idea is great but the product is so so. The cutting wire is fragile and doesn't always cut the ribbon smoothly. I'd spend a little more if another similar product that did the job better was available. The price is too high for the so so performance.

After reading the 1 star and 2 star reviews I was hesitant to get one. But after seeing the demo on YouTube, it looked pretty simple so I decided to try it. It is pretty simple, add batteries (make sure you add all fresh batteries-when I first tried it I had dead batteries mixed with the fresh batteries and had issues) place ribbon on cutter and press button of 2-5 seconds and VIOLA! It's perfect. I don't understand the negative reviews. I guess people just love to whine.

I received my order very quickly which made me very happy, however, the product does not perform very well with several uses. The inside components (the plastic holders for the wire clips) are not designed to hold the wire that cuts the ribbon (when it heats) very well. I had numerous problems trying to keep the "holder" for the wire in place. If this wire could stay put, it works great. The concept is fabulous but the practical application fails after a few uses.

I hesitated to buy this based on some of the reviews, but I'm glad I bought it. It's made cutting ribbon so easy, but if you don't count off the time and leave the ribbon in too long, it will melt and stick to the wire. I also found that if you listen carefully, you can actually hear a soft little click when the cut is made and the two pieces release. Although I haven't needed them yet, I did buy a package of the replacement wires.
