Ansen Tools Grit Sharp AS-414 Premier Fold-Up Double-Sided Diamond Whetstone Sharpener Fine/Extra Fine

I bought this item because I have 4-5 knives with OK blades, but needed some touch-up. Product worked pretty much as expected. The only problem I've had so far is that after sharpening several blades, the adhesive on one of the whetstones let loose. I had to re-attach it. But it does a pretty good job of getting a good edge on blades that aren't too bad to begin with.

We own two sets of knives, Henckels and Ginsu, and this sharpener keeps them all with a very keen edge and with very little effort. I look at the tool more as one of maintenance since one side of the hone is 600 grit and the other side is1200 grit. This is really to fine for heavy duty sharping of badly dulled cutting instruments. You will note I did not use the word razor sharp anywhere, since it takes much higher grits to obtain such shapness.

This is an excellent diamond sharpener. i understand why Ansen calls it a premier sharpener. It sharpens with a smooth level sharpening motion. Having the two different grit options is a plus. As a compact diamond sharpener this is very high quality.

This product is not the quality it should be. It is coarse and has rough edges. I would look at other brands.
