Wilton Easy Glide Fondant Smoother, Cake and Treats

I'm new to working with fondant, and almost didn't buy these because I thought I could re-purpose another tool like the bottom of a measuring cup to smooth the fondant. But I am SO glad I bought a pair of these! They're so inexpensive, yet so effective and easy to use! Their unique shape makes them perfect for smoothing fondant on a cake. Do buy a pair, so you can hold onto the cake from the top or from one side with one smoother while rubbing the other smoother against the cake. Also be careful not to press down too hard, or you'll leave an imprint of the smoother's shape in your fondant.

This is one of the best tools you can have if you are working with fondant. It smooths the fondant so nicely and presses out air bubbles that lie between the cake and fondant. You can smooth the fondant into sharp corners around your cake edge, and press the edge of the smoother against the fondant to create a line to trim the fondant. It's such a simple tool, but so necessary for that crisp, professional look.

I’m no expert, but for a complete novice this worked fine, but seemed slightly lightweight. It was a little flimsier than I thought it would be. I feel like if it weighed a little more it would be easier to use, and I would gladly pay more for an item that made my untalented fondant working skills easier. Eventually it worked, and the fondant looked pretty good, I just felt this is a tool to make smoothing fondant easy, and this just made it so that I could barely do it. I don’t know if there is a better product out there, but you can make do with this just know you have to work at it. I generally like Wilton products and this was simply a high okay for me.

This works great to smooth the finish on your cake. I don't use fondant, but if you put a piece of wax paper down on a crusting buttercream frosting, this will help you smooth it down quite well. Many people use paper towels for this, but I have best results with wax paper and this tool. You can find a lot of videos on the web as to how to do this. It really helps make a homemade cake look professional!

I am giving 5 stars as I like the idea of having it for use. But have not used yet and don't know when I will. The piece itself looks sturdy and smooth so I have no choice but to give it 5 stars as it is not the vendor's fault that I don't know when I will use it. So please read other reviewers for its "usage factor".

So I know this says to use it for Fondant BUT I saw a trick online where you can put a paper towel down on your buttercream and smooth it out. I personally didn't get that trick to work as well as the video did BUT it did work as expected. I did love this little tool!

Can be used for a long while. The quality is great.
