Strategic Communication
The book "Strategic Communication: in Business and the Professions" was a great refection of communication in today's business word. The book keeps up with the current times, reflecting the integration of how social media, such as twitter, Facebook, or MySpace, impacts the workplace. The chapters run in a nice sequence with each section building off the previous. The textbook highlight the definitions and key terms through the use of the side margins and in the chapter reviews, which is invaluable to focusing on what's important. This book made it very easy to understand how communication and group interactions impact the work environment. I recommend this book to anyone who wants to brush up on or learn how to communicate effectively.

This book is required reading for my communication class.
This book is required reading for my communication class. The material is great and it will make a great reference book for my library. However, I am surprised at the number of grammatical errors since this is a textbook for undergraduate college students. and the color schemes used in the book make it difficult to read some parts of the book.

Five Stars
Not only was this a school book but it was an enjoyable read. A great look into how to appropriately align your self with coworkers or bosses. Examining issues at hand or ahead and to promote a uniform work place to achieve your desired results.

Adequate Option for Pointless Classes
I needed this book for one of my courses, but did not want to spend $100 on a book that I would only need for two months. I’m glad that this was available, however it is clear that it is a used rental. In fairness, it is not a hard cover book, so i image it was to be expected that the pages and cover are slightly curled. Despite the rugged appearance, it’s still clean and usable, so I can’t complain too much about it.Edit: now that I'm farther in the book, I've noticed that some previous renters have made their own notes in the book. Thankfully it does not prevent me from being able to get the information I need, but it is what it is. In regards to what another reviewer said- yes, the information in the book is common sense, but it is what it is.

An unedited book of common sense
I had to read this for an undergrad communications course. It's basically a book of common sense. Most of the chapters are much longer than necessary, as if to fill a word quota. Some of the facts in the book, like the types of listening, are just plain made up. Every time they mention technology any computer literate person will get a laugh — they lazily added mentions of new technology like the iPhone without updating prices and products from at least ten years ago.Words like "and" are constantly spelled wrong ("nad").Here is an actual sentence, copied word for word from this book. This is not my error, and I actually have no idea what it's supposed to be saying:"Internal summary builds consensus before moving to the next step. The leader may say 'we have decided that the problem is and that are related issues and probable causes.'"This communications book fails at communicating even after seven editions.
