Nice disposer! good value but
Removed a 1/2 hp waste king and installed this one. It contained most everything needed for the install. I have used them all. Most are made by Emerson Motor Corperation and resemble ISE In-Sink-erator. These resembles GE Is it made by GE Im not sure. It was years ago. The installation was simple. My recomendtion is to use Plumbers Putty arount the sink flange. My experience with the INCLUDED rubber gasket is, the oils from the food attacks it and it swells. The rubber doesent have muct to seal on with a porcelin sink (like mine). The putty will last for many many years, and has always been used by the pros. less than $3.00 a tub normally. Be sure the flange it tightened fully. Perhaps recleck its tightness after a few days to be sure. Dont go crqazy just until it stops turning against the sink and and a bit beyond snug. its plactic remember. plug it in and go. This machine really spins up fast and will emulsify nicely. This unit uses a steel grinding element. It appears to be stainless. However says steel. For this reason and this reason only, My recommendation is to use the 1/2 hp unit. The stainless will resist the rusting inside of the unit. It is ony a few dollars more. Most of this unit is plastic. Dont be afraid of this as its been plastic for many decades and is good. The ISE units are White Metal (aluminum ish stuff) and does corrode eventually. The 1/2 hp unit that came out was around 6 years old. I anticipate this will last around 4-5. 6/14/2025 I have to laugh at the level of detail that some buyers put in there reviews .Its Amazing and thankss everyone that did. This information is most important to some. Especially since there are so many vaiations of homes and sinks. That being said, My 1/3 hp unit is still running well however my next one will probably be the 1/2 HP unit. I just feel for the extra money ist best to stay with the same thing thats proven itself. Also it had more sound insulation is appears.

Easy install, everything I need at a low price
We are 1 week after I installed it myself and its been solid. Very good instructions, I am handy but no tradesman and I found it to be an easy install. Its quite quiet, I wasnt even sure it was working because our old one was so cantankerous. I will update this if it dosent last, but for now it does everything I need it to at a very low price.

Adjust your expectations to the price. READ THE INSTRUCTIONS AND VIDEO
This is perfect for the "do it yourselfer," if you are paying someone to install, get something more upscale and a bigger name. I bought this specifically because it was my first garbage disposal install, it was inexpensive, got good ratings and if I screwed it up I'm not out too much dough. I gave this a 4 because it met all my expectations and then some but it's not perfect and we don't know the longevity yet. Come on Amazon, where's that 4 1/2 stars? Took me 3 hours to remove and replace this unit, but that was mostly pulling out the old one. Some quick thoughts after install and a day or so of use. A) Appearance: It's as utilitarian as they come and the sink flange is screaming bright chrome, and kind of cheap looking. But why do you need your garbage disposal to match your kitchen decor when it's, you know, UNDER THE SINK. B) Sound: Quieter than it's Whirlpool predecessor not library quiet, but again who cares? Most food scraps for us go in the trash and we only use the disposal for a few seconds every day. Also, there is a rather unsettling clicking noise upon startup, but according to the instruction manual that's normal. C) Installation: READ THE INSTRUCTIONS. WATCH THE INSTALLATION VIDEO. For a novice, that was important, little things like knocking out the dishwasher plug and putting pieces in the right place and right side up. It comes correctly put together in the box so as you take the parts off to install make sure you know how they go back together. The type of sink is important. I was prepared to use plumber's putty to seal the sink flange but the instructions are clear putty's for non-steel sinks, otherwise use the included rubber seal for stainless steel. NEVER both. Electrical is important too, this comes with a cord installed which worked for me because we have an outlet under the sink. If you are direct wiring I'm not sure it's worth the aggravation of uninstalling the cord. D) Warranty: The two year warranty was double anything else in the category, for longer you have to almost double the purchase price. Hope I don't need to avail myself of this, but there it is. E) Price: Are you kidding? It's a little over $50, and since my labor is free it's an even better deal. Even if I only get my two years of warrantied use it's still a bargain. So, at the moment I'm quite content it seems the right call if you don't use a disposal a lot and are installing the unit yourself. I'll try to remember to update in a year or two as the 111 gets more use and abuse. UPDATE: It's past the two year warranty and the 111 is still working as advertised. As noted we only use it a couple times a day and don't put too much stress on it but at this price point we've already gotten our money's worth. A Suggestion: I found it handy to buy an extra rubber splash guard 'cause it gets NASTY underneath after a month or so. I rotate between two of them, throwing it in the dishwasher seems to clean it up just fine. Runs around $5.

Fit well and works great
My son and I installed this. I wonโt say it was super easy, because garbage disposals never are easy to install for me, but we got it done and the thing works great. Great price and good quality.

why did I even bother with Home Depot's brands?
This disposal is amazing. I had to change out the entire setup in the sink, but it really wasn't that hard to do. I did it all with a screwdriver and a wrench in less than an hour. The most time consuming part was driving to the store to get an extension cord. A 3 foot long cord would have been ample for most setups, in fact it would have been long enough for my project if I had mounted my disposal in the other sink instead, but then I would have had to change all the plumbing around below, so it was easier for me to drive down to the local hardware store and pick up a short power strip. It was just 6 inches short, so a 4' long power cord would have done it, and I even considered changing out the power cord to do it. By the way, if you want to hard wire your disposal in, it would be really easy to remove the power cord and replace it with regular wiring. Just a small nut on the bottom of the unit and you have easy access to the white, black, and ground. I had some plumbers putty out in the garage, and you will need some to install the disposal. I had a harder time figuring out how to remove the old home depot brand disposal mounting bracket than I did installing this new one. I switched them out in under half an hour, and flipped the switch for a test run. It was amazing how quiet it was! A couple features I love about it are the reset button on the bottom of the unit in the back. I suppose that will help avoid motor burnout which is why we had to replace it in the first place. I had some aquarium rocks fall into the old one and burned out the motor on it. It's really skinny compared to my last one, so it doesn't take up a lot of room underneath the sink. It's really quiet and so far has ground up and washed away everything we've sent into it, which isn't much since I just did the job last weekend. It has a power cord, so you can install and then plug it in without having to worry about wire nuts or waterproofing. And it was only about fifty dollars, so you can't beat the price. The Cons of the unit are cheap plastic housing, so be careful not to crack it when you are removing the dishwasher drain plug. I don't think you'd have to worry about the plastic housing otherwise. It shouldn't have to receive a lot of abuse hanging under a kitchen sink, but then again, we don't have kids. It was a little short on the power cord, but not too big a deal to really justify complaining about. My wife didn't like the mouth of the disposal being so small, but I think it's probably a good safety precaution to keep fingers away from the grinder. And there isn't a wrench port on the unit to manually turn the grinder. The instruction manual showed putting a stick into the unit and working the grinder that way. I don't think that's nearly as safe or good idea as the old wrench method from below. I will complain that I had to change out the entire setup instead of being able to just pop it into the old mounting bracket, but that's just me being petty and whiney. It wasn't that hard, and I did the whole thing by myself while my wife was at work. With the 2 brands coming from different companies, I should expect a difference like that and to have to change out the whole setup. I was nervous about it, but I shouldn't have been. That part was almost the easiest part of the whole project it turned out. In conclusion, if you aren't going to be rough on it, this is the best unit you could buy. I'd recommend it to anyone. And if you have a dishwasher, please remember to pop that drain plug out before putting the drain hose on it. I felt so stupid the first time I replaced our disposal and called a repairman to come see why the dishwasher wasn't draining. He took the drain hose off, stuck a screwdriver in there, and popped it right out, then retrieved the drain plug with a pair of needle nose pliers. Thankfully he didn't charge me for the call. He didn't feel the need to add insult to injury. But I'm sure he had a good laugh all the way home.

Garbage, don't buy, seriously its a waste of money...
Would give zero stars if I could. Read all of the 1 star reviews before buying. This is absolutely impossible to mount, flange wad flimsy and just fell off the sink, no matter how it was mounted, also said pre-wored bur easy to change to hard wired and that was a lie, had cheap crimp on wire nuts thin ground wire and no way for a normal grommet to fit in the huge hole for the power cord that was glued in. Seriously Amazon should review this product quality, its 110% garbage. Don't try to save money you will end up spending more in the long run.

Ugly Flange (Metal Ring In Bottom of Sink) Causes Additional Cost & Effort!
This arrived quickly, was easy to install, and seems to work well. However, as you can see from the photos, we have two issues with the flange (metal ring that sits in the bottom of the sink) that made us rate this only 3 stars: First, it sits higher than our former flange due to a rubber gasket that sits under it. This causes some water to sit in the bottom of the sink instead of emptying completely as it used to do with our Insinkerator disposal/flange. A shallow pool about three inches surrounding the flange stays in the sink each time we run the water. (Sorry, but the photos don't show that since he hadn't run water in that side of the sink yet when they were taken.) Second, the flange is bright chrome, much wider than the standard flange on the other side of the sink, and embossed with the words "WASTE KING" in large letters on both halves of the circle. (See photos) I don't know about other parts of the country, but here in Seattle, that is considered an eyesore and would probably need to be replaced if not now, at least before resale. For this reason, we will be ordering a separate flange. The reviews of the Waste King satin nickel flange aren't good as most people find the paint peels, so we did finally find another brand that will work with this disposal. This disposal is NOT universal and does not work with the majority of other parts. As it turns out, the flange piece will cost $70, more than we paid for the entire disposal, making this not only a whole lot more work (we'll have to uninstall and reinstall it to put in the new flange), but also significantly more expensive than if we had ordered another brand. Wish we would have known all this before making a selection.

We replaced the exact same model after about 9 years of service. Works great and was a snap to install. Took about 15 minutes

Great Garbage Disposer
I bought this to replace my Mainline Model 1900 1/3 horsepower garburator. It is the exact fit. The only difference is there is a plug instead of the unit being wired in, so my friend had to come over and install an outlet under the sink and wire that up to code, then he installed the unit easily. I would give the unit a 5-STAR to install except we had to install the electrical outlet first (as one did not previously exist under the sink). But once installed, the unit ran perfectly and is quite quiet!
