You Were Mine: A Rosemary Beach Novel, Book 9

In Review: You Were Mine (Rosemary Beach #9) by Abbi Glines
I feel like I've been waiting for this book forever. It was worth the wait. It was emotional and a beautiful second chance story. It was a great, slow build to the boiling point for these characters as Bethy tried to resist Tripp because of their history and her guilt over Jace. There was a ton of sexual tension, a whole bunch of feels and smoking hot sexy time. (Spoiler alert: Tripp's a dirty talker. And I liked it.)While Bethy wasn't always an easy character to like in the earlier books, now that I've spent a book inside her head, I get it. I understand why she is how she is. I definitely connected with her during You Were Mine. The poor girl had been through so much and was carrying far too much guilt over the past. She definitely hadn't had an easy life. Tripp has been an enigma to me since he was first introduced into the series. I didn't know what to think about him at first, but now I'm a fan. I loved how he relentlessly pursued Bethy (without crossing into creepy territory). It was obvious he cared about her and wanted her to be happy and live again. Hopefully, with him.It probably goes without saying, but I loved this couple. Once I learned everything about their history, there isn't a doubt in my mind that things are how they were meant to be. It does still break my heart that Jace had to die for them to find their way back to each other though. It can't have been an easy story for Abbi to write either. It was difficult to read sometimes because of Bethy's pain and guilt and because Jace was SUCH a likable guy and it devastated me when he died earlier in the series. But at the same time, it was impossible not to stay hopeful and wish for Bethy to find her happily ever after with the first guy she ever loved. They were just so right together. There's no way you can read Bethy and Tripp's history and not root for this couple.Abbi's done it again! I love this series and her characters and storytelling. I always find myself completely wrapped up in the story, rushing to the end so I can find out what happens, but then sad when it's all over and I have to let them go. You Were Mine was no exception. But, I do know Abbi's books well enough to know that this isn't the last we'll see of them. I can't wait for the next Rosemary Beach book and an update on their lives now. So many warm fuzzy feels!I received a copy of this book from the publisher, via Netgalley, in exchange for an honest review.

Abbi Glines is a genius! Thank you for Tripp's story!
I've said it before, and I'll say it again.....Abbi Glines is a genius! For a while now, I have put off reading book 9, You Were Mine, in the Rosemary Beach series. I did this because I was not happy with the heroine, Bethy, about something that happened because of her in an earlier book in the series. I read for enjoyment and to escape the real world, and I felt like Bethy's story had too many "real world" problems and was depressing. I didn't see anyway that I could forget it and truly enjoy the rest of the books in one of my favorite series. What I didn't consider though, was Abbi's genius story-telling ability. Turns out Bethy and Tripp's story is one of my favorites. It is sweet and romantic, hot and swoony, and a beautiful story about the staying power of true love. Rush, Woods, and Jace have always been my favorites from this series, but Tripp managed to move close to the top spot with his faithfulness, patience, loyalty, protectiveness, and love for Bethy. In You Were Mine, Abbi Glines simultaneously weaves in the story of how Tripp and Bethy met, while taking us on their present day journey. There wasn't a single thing about this book that I would change. I loved every single word. My heart was in a constant state of flutter because of all the acts of love in it....thankfully, the drama and sadness was minimal, and it featured Tripp's kind and loving nature, which by the way was wrapped up in a tall, gorgeous, muscular, Harley riding bad-boy cover. To me, it is a perfect book. It has dual POVs, houses on the beach, private islands, moonlit walks on the beach, country club lunch dates, THE BEST friendships, and my required HEA. Abbi gave her readers a healthy dose of the characters we love from the previous books, which is one of my favorite things about this series. You Were Mine is my favorite book that I've read this summer. Kudos to Abbi Glines for proving me wrong. I will never doubt her ability to win me over again!A couple of my favorite lines:"Because I've loved her since I was eighteen years old. That's all I can tell you." Tripp to Della."I can't share you." he said as he pressed his mouth against my temple. "I know you want to take this slow, and you're scared. I get it. But I can't....this is mine. It always was. You were mine then, and you're mine now." Tripp to Bethy."Do you see the date hidden in the print?" .........."Six, twenty-eight, two thousand and eight,"...."It was the night I gave my heart to that woman over there." ....... Tripp to Charity about his tattoo.

Bethy and Tripp
Another wonderful read by Abbi Glines and part of the Rosemary Beach series. Bethy Lowry was a hard-drinking and easy girl that worked at the country club. After she met Blaire, she learned to respect herself and not be easy. With that she won Jace and they fell in love. He was a wonderful and caring boyfriend. Jace died trying to save Bethy from a riptide after she had one too many drinks. Now she's a completely different person, she has so much guilt and heartbreak that she's barely surviving. Tripp Newark was Jace's cousin but he has loved Bethy since he was 18 years old. At the age of 18, he went on the road and ran from all the pressure and expectations that his family had placed on him. His parents wanted him to become a lawyer and marry the right person. Tripp couldn't see his life becoming that, so he left. He loved Bethy and wanted her with him, but one way or another his family wouldn't allow him to stay with her so he left.Bethy is a really great person who had some tragedy in her past. She was left brokenhearted at the age of 16. She finally found love again and things were turning around. But then Tripp came back and made her question and have feelings.Tripp is a really great guy to the people that he cares about. He made a mistake when he was younger and left the love of his life. He has never forgot or stopped loving Bethy. He found out that his cousin loved her and he figured he was the better man. Now with his cousin dead, he wants to be there for Bethy anyway that he can. He truly does love her.Definitely worth reading.
