I have never spilled so much gs in my life until after the government safety folks decided they had to redesign the spouts on gas cans to make the "safer". These new safety spouts they forced on us are crap, impossible to use and leak - obviously designed by engineers that have never used or touched a gas can in their lives. These old school spouts seal, pour and work just as they should and will put an end to trying to make the "safety" spouts work while slopping gas everywhere! The vent doesn't seal as well as they should to the gas can and I had to put a dab of silicone on it to get it to seal better, but still well worth the effort. I will buy some more to cover all the cans I own as well as a few extras for the future. I am sure the safety spout police find out and outlaw these functional spouts. Review: Good Option for those stupid EPA gas nozzles - I finally got fed up with trying to use those stupid EPA mandated nozzles for simple 2 to 5 gallon gas cans. These work fine, but I'm going to drill a small hole in the gas can to insert a small rubber plug. When I go to use it, I'll remove the plug to allow air into the tank so that when I'm filling the lawn mower or motor scooter, the gas won't "chug" out of the can. Allowing the air from the plug helps. The old style cans used to have a small air hole with a cap to do the same.

Works on newer cans but not old ones with larger spouts.
Bought this for an old can but doesn't fit... however had two other cans, a diesel can which has a ridiculous "safety" spout and a 2 gallon can. Fit those perfectly, no leaks and doesn't take 10 minutes to pour out a gallon of fuel from the diesel can now.

Doesn't fit many common gas cans.
These spouts are well made and the caps don't get lost as with some others. However the threaded nuts don't fit any of the cans I own. I was able to use the nut from and existing broken safety no-spill (yeah right) spout to attach this on a 5 gallon can I had.

Just what I was looking for.
Buy these and throw those terrible things away - those standard pieces of junk spouts issued on all gas cans. And for all of those people like me that canโt wait forever for a ventless gas can to empty out do yourself a favor and vent the can before you use it to make sure you get the shavings out of the can. It will help save time and back pain.

Junky little spouts
I normally donโt write reviews but I have to on this one. The plastic used in these spouts are comparable to gallon milk jug plastic. The flange that the screw cap uses to seal the spout to the fuel container is 1/8 of an inch and VERY flimsy. As you tighten the screw cap down to the fuel container, the rubber(?) gasket is inside the screw cap and splits. This happened twice as two spouts come in a package. After one was so crappy I tried the other one with same results. As I poured 5 gallons of diesel into my truck yesterday, 25% leaked onto the ground because these spouts are junk. Waste of money!! Buyer beware!!!

Dry rotted an broke off after 3-4 years.
Dry rotted an broke off after 3-4 years. I think a rigid spout with thicker plastic would be better.

Great alternative
A bicycle dropped and broke off the crappy leakproof gas spout on my gas can. These fit perfectly on the pour end. I drilled a hole and punched the air cap in what felt like fairly tight. It leaks a small amount if you turn the gas can over. Not much, but a bit. My advice - get one of these and don't knock the can over.
