Don Bradman Cricket 14

This is by far one of the best cricket games that is as close to the real thing as possible. It is not perfect and has some quirks here and there but it is still a great game with lots of features. The batting and specially bowling has quite a bit of a learning curve, but once you get used to the odd controls, you will love every minute of it. All aspects of the game, bowling, batting and fielding are very intuitive and fun. The game features a career mode where you take control of a young 16 year old aspiring cricketer and take him through his entire career, earning skills and XP as you play matches. You can choose to be an all-rounder, a batsman, a bowler or even a wicket keeper. One bad thing is the commentary. It is dreadful and becomes repetitive and boring really quickly. This is a great first attempt by ANT Studios and I think the deserved to be supported for their great efforts.

Most cricket video games (in fact to a great extent all sports video games) inherently suffer from one major shortcoming - lifelessness. It doesn't really matter who developed it and how much money was poured into developing and marketing it. These things can have little impact on the life that a sports video game exudes. As the technology has matured a lot, a lot of developers seem to be focusing on this very aspect we call "realism". Cricket is inherently a slow yet tasteful and extremely difficult game. These characteristics introduce so many different things that can happen on the ground in any one game that it is quite difficult to fit all of that in a mold and avoid monotonous game play. This game does not do this well. The "realism" puts that cherry on top and makes a 5-star game and a truly memorable experience. (Hint: The Last of Us). Don Bradman 14 unfortunately lost one star here. But all the other stars are still shining bright. This small company tried a bold fresh approach to create a new game play engine and they have definitely succeeded. I am not going to talk about some offline and online bugs that I am hopeful that a couple of patches in later half of 2014 will aim to fix (Patch 1 is already out in April 2014). But overall, it is a stellar effort at breathing some fresh air into this artsy gentlemen's game of chance. Just the plethora of options to customize everything in this game is a wow factor. Be it editing teams and players, game play, or cameras. There is a lot that can be controlled, and it is always a good thing, not just for the end-users, but for future patch developers on the back end. The animations are also great, the graphics are not bad, but they do feel like the 2011 generation on a very big TV like 55 inches. I am sure if the size of the TV is small around 32-40 inches, the graphics will definitely look sharper with denser pixel area for 720p resolution. Last but not the least, this game has gained a huge community support on PlanetCricket and Facebook, and availability in USA (although expensive) gain it a star. This support will essentially fuel the future patch development effort as some senior members of the company are active on those forums. This game has the potential to answer the very first question that is still left unanswered - infusing dynamic realism in a game like cricket. Can future patches or simply a new Don Bradman game release in a couple of years make it full of life? If you like cricket and thought of playing a video game, this is a must buy.

I am a very huge cricket lover and fan of Sir Don and Sir Sachin Tendulkar. This game has nothing that takes you to the memories in past. I had so much hopes on this game. 65$ is not worthy for the kind of game play and graphics this game offers. Graphics looks like back in 70's. Roosters are completely crap. Except for the name of the Great Player Don Bradman nothing is exceptional in this game. I am returning mine today. Its a piece of crap. I strongly suggest people to buy international cricket 2010 instead. It is the best ever cricket game i played on ps3. I was comparing the International Cricket with Sir Don's game. International cricket beats this in every aspect, game play, graphics, roosters, feel and comfort. Processing time is too much for every single save point. Never attempt to buy this. Trust me and buy international Cricket.

I purchased this game and started playing and found no big difference comparing to Ashes cricket 2010. It has lots of bugs which ruins the game playing. The game makers should understand following before making games Game buyers only care about game play. If batsman is given out wrongly it ruins game play(it happens a lot with this game) -Run out bug -Stumping bug -I can not turn the ball when bowling spin ball -Too many controls- difficult to play -Graphics-Batsman can not see the ball after hitting the ball (ball has crossed the boundary or not) -Stupid Camera angles -cost $75-80 game and is full of bugs I was expecting a game without serious game playing bugs.When your well set batsman is given an out because of stupid bug it ruins the game. If you can't enjoy why even buy game? Who care about graphics or player faces. Game makers should understand these problems. I think Brian Lara 2005 and EA Sports 2007 have the best game play with bugs. I would recommend these two games if somebody can fix these bugs. I would buy again newer versions. I would not recommend this game to anyone. Review Update on 09/06/2014 I am updating my review because there were updates released by game developers and installed and it did fixed some of the bugs(did not correct all the bugs). It is now playable and some what acceptable. AI is still not great. Ball is not swinging and turning that much. When you play hard level(Advanced) AI should swing and turn more balls when bowling or fast in-cutters, yorkers and batsman should play more improvised realistic stroke play. If you are a cricket lover you may try because it is improved. I am not happy but, I like to support cricket game developers. Review Update on 11/21/2014 After playing for so long I am enjoying the umpire decision making and the appeal system in the game. Best from all other cricket games. The Third Umpire review system is ok . The team/player settings are also amazing. The only negative thing I have to say is that there is no field setting or mini map that shows where fielders are on the map so the batsman knows where to play the ball. Online playing is working. Since this game has been released it has improved with updates so I would recommend this game now.

It was scrathed all aroud but wrked

This game is the greatest game on the market, career mode is the greatest game mode. I play for the West Indies as a bowling all rounder Down to the serious stuff:people who say this game suck are stupid and unappreative of hard work.Big Ant Studios worked hard on this game and it may have problems including superhuman fielding and no ICC tournaments but I still find it as a good game. To the people who say this game sucks: U should make ur own cricket Video game If u don't like DBC14 or shove it up

Excellent game. I have just played at the amateur level and had to spend some time understanding the controls. I haven't yet mastered front foot batting against the quicks, but I am sure I will get there soon. The grounds/stadiums and spectators are not up to the mark but the players and DRS aspect is real-like. The only occasional unusual thing that I have noticed is the batsman still playing after the umpire has given him out caught behind.

Will take little time to understand controllers then it's an addiction. I played this game for hours, career mode is really awesome. Competition mode and individual mode is also great. The best part is you don't have to perform any patches or update, it will automatically synchronize teams with most recent players. Overall this is a great game by far.
