First Alert 3026F Steel Cash Box with Money Tray

The FIRST ALERT CASH BOX is an excellent value for its price, and lived up to all of its advertising. Like the 2008 reviewer (most helpful) found, I too received the box with the top and bottom misaligned, actually causing the top to be somewhat jammed into the box bottom. A good tug separated the two sides, with no permanent damage or misalignment, allowing the box to function as it was designed to. Perhaps this misalignment is caused by stacking the boxes and allowing weight to build up on the bottom boxes during storage? The outer cardboard box though not thin, was quite pliable; thus the speculation.The fully opening hinge (allowing hands-free full use of both sides of the cash box) is a terrific design point and prevents the need to remove the coin tray to store bills. The box is sturdy and the lock is adequate; this is not meant to be a safety deposit box in terms of security...it provides convenience and capable storage.An excellent value and a quality product.

I like that this box takes advantage of the inside top and bottom for money storage with spring loaded arms on the upper side of the box that are easy to flip and not loose enough to drop bills when you close it, it also wont let your bills blow away if you are outside and the wind blows. the change tray in the bottom is removeable so you can hide your checks and big bills under it. It is keyed well, you can't just turn it with a screw driver or anything that will fit in the slot.The only thing I don't like is that doesn't have shield if from the eyes of the customer on the other side of the table, and it may be a little easier for a second or third customer to reach over and take money out while I am paying attention to customer one

I was a bit unsure when I read the reviews; but when the cash box arrived, I was thrilled. It is sturdy, has good compartments for everything, the lock works and it is as secure as a cash box can be. The reviews that c/o being able to pick the lock, I'm not sure what they were looking for, maybe a safe instead of a cash box? I would buy this product again.

I purchased this for my Girl Scout Troop to use at their booth sales, which can be windy. The first one I ordered arrived in the middle of Saturday's troop meeting, to the delight of my 9 year old girls. Once opened, it proved to be seriously damaged: bent corners separating from the box, slightly rusted, and not aligned properly on the hinges so it wouldn't close. Everyone was disappointed, and I told the girls I'd send it back for a replacement. Amazon did a fantastic job replacing it within two days with an undamaged item, which is what I'll describe.The box itself is metal and sturdy. The only flaw is that the box does not latch unless it is locked with the key. (It comes with two keys). I don't think this will be a big issue as long as the girls lift from the bottom instead of from the handle on the lid.The key feature I wanted was the clips in place securing bills from blowing away during booth sales. The clips are plastic, but seem sturdy enough. The plastic tray (with wells for for coins) in the bottom lifts out and you can place checks or order forms beneath it.I don't know that I'd use this item for secure storage; we are only planning to use it during outside sales activities, after which any earnings will be deposited in the bank. If you are looking for an inexpensive, relatively light weight but sturdy box for extracurricular fund-raising activities, this is a good choice. The lock doesn't appear to be "secure" but rather a mechanism for keeping the top closed.

Just needed a place to store all my sensitive documents in one spot. I'm not expecting this to be a safe-type product, nor element-proof. It holds some extra cash I keep on hand for emergencies in easy segregated within the lid and it lies flat when opened. How having this has helped me so far:I lost my wallet inside my house so I was able to just snatch the grocery money out of the box.My sister wasn't answering my texts to ask why she was late (she busses an hour home at really late hours of the night) and I thankfully keep updated pictures (taken every 6 months) inside the box, with specs listed on the back. I didn't have to give anything to the police, but I could have if needed. (Sister was fine, phone died, there was a fight on the bus that left all passengers dying of laughter, apparently.)Needed to keep my digital camera away from above mentioned lovely sister, because she breaks everything she touches (I love her dearly), so I locked it up.The flash drive that has all my financial information on it.Risque pics of myself and my b/f we've mailed back and forth to each other.My mom's recipe book written in index cards.My mom's wedding ring from a man who is not my dad and whom she divorced when I was three.A wedding ring a friend bought me from Walmart as a gag gift that I wore for nearly a year out of solidarity.Black candle, a pin, and matches. You know, in case I need to do an emergency hexing.All in all, it actually holds a lot of important stuff. Storage generally tends to, though. The story of my life in one little box.
