Knockaround Guys is the story of four friends who are related to and associates of real mob guys. In the course of trying to prove their worth to the "knockaround guys i.e. the mob they mess up a money pickup. This puts the mob father and uncle of Matty (one of the young guys) in a cross with the big boss. Now everyone is trying to get the money: the mob, the young men trying to prove themselves, corrupt small town sheriffs, and some inane skateboard stoners.The story is an interesting study of relationships corrupted by greed and stupidity. But it is more interesting for the juxtiposition of genuine friendship/loyalty as measured against the often bogus devotion of blood family ties and business associations. The performances are uniformly terrific-even the lesser roles. However Vin Diesel really stands out as the intelligent strong arm who believes he is out of options for himself but offers to let Matty avoid the showdown which promises to be lethal. He owns every scene in which he appears, not just because of his physical presence but because of his quiet intensity. You can believe that this is more than a talented actor reciting lines.If you prefer highly intellectual movies this will not be your cup of tea. However, people who believe that loyalty, friendship, and courage actually exist apart from the "situational" morality/cowardice that threaten to rot out society will appreciate the film.

Good story line

I like movies that set up bad guys and then see them justifiably screwed over. This is one such with some interesting scenes. Don't expect any of this movie to stay with you.

Ok movie, not as great as I tbought

Best line in the movie. Vin Diesel is awesome in this movie. It’s my go to movie when I’m bored and need to be entertained.

Parts of this movie feel a bit too much like a comedy. Parts of this movie feel really dark. The two tones of this movie feel like they are constantly at odds with each other and never allow the viewer lose themselves in the narrative. Some moments are entertaining enough to be worthy of a foot note or 2 but over all this movie gets a C+ at best.

I was surprised by the ending! Good movie that I had never heard of.

In einem Kaff geht ein Koffer voller Geld verloren, der der Mafia gehört. Um den Koffer wieder zu beschaffen, nehmen die vier Mafiosi (Vin Diesel, Barry Pepper, Seth Green und Andrew Davoli) das Kaff auseinander. Denn, wenn sie den Koffer nicht zurückbringen, werden ihre Bosse nicht sonderlich erfreut sein...Doch machen die Bewohner, insbesondere der korrupte Polizeichef, ihnen mehr Probleme als gedacht.Ein solider Action-Film mit Starbesetzung ( u.a. auch mit Dennis Hopper und John Malkovich als Mafia-Bosse). Die DVD bietet auch bisschen Bonus-Material (Original-Kommentare und nicht verwendete Szenen).Auf jeden Fall den Kauf wert!!!
