Good value - Works well
I needed to put some bicycle hooks in the garage. Sounds simple but this is a finished, attached garage. My neighbor lent me his Zircon 58229 and although it seemed a little bit cumbersome at first, I was able to find the studs every time. I felt this was a tool that I would use often as we are re-organizing the garage and my wife has a number of pictures to hang in the house.I looked at a lot of stud finders on-line and was surprised that this was one of the less expensive ones. I bought it and I'm very happy with it.It can be just a little bit quirky and that's the reason I didn't give it 5-stars. But with a bit of practice you can really get a good look at what's behind the wall. I've used it to find studs and electrical wires with 100% success.Would I recomend this to my friends? Yes, without hesitation.

Legit Finder
Love this thing. Works as advertised. Great price, great product. The finder for all projects. Easy to use for the homeowner, but tough enough for the contractor as well.

Works relatively well on "DeepScan Mode"
This only seems to work when I have it set to "DeepScan" mode. Regular mode doesn't seem to detect studs at all. If you move it too quickly it will error out and just start blinking red. But for the price it's great for the occasional use. If I needed something to use on a regular basis I would definitely skip this and pay a little extra for a better model. But for the price this fits the bill.

Deep scan failed
The media could not be loaded. This garbage does not work at all.It failed to calibrate and failed to detect any deep studs that are behind siding wall from outside the house.Barely finding anything from inside.

Unreliable
I have owned this stud finder for 6 years and have used it only about a dozen times. The signals are very unreliable, you need to use other sources to find the right location. Those include knocking on wall, using the magnetic stud finder, when it works, also just trial an error with nails.. So as you can see this thing has been very frustrating. You have to spend a long time playing with it and mapping and entire wall for you to figure out if there is a stud there. I am going to buy the I520 to see if i have better luck with that. I am figuring its been about 7 yrs, the technology has to be better now..

Does What It Is Supposed to Do
I bought this as I got tired of asking my nephew and nieces if I could borrow their stud finders so I could drill the drywall in my sister's home to install various items for her like a towel bar, towel ring, glass shelf, etc. I tested it out as soon as I received it and it works well, finding the wooden studs behind my drywall and also the metal in my tile wall. However, I only gave it four stars as it gave me a couple of false readings out of the thirty or so I tested it for, but this was easily remedied by trying it more than once on the same place. I now have it together with my drill and level in my drill case and will carry it with me on my next project for my sister. You could say she found her stud(finder).

Not bad
Good price for a good stud finder. I'm often in lathe & plaster and regardless of deep or normal scan, detection accuracy is 50:50 at best. Very reliable on drywall & wood studs, steel stud accuracy about the same as plaster--use a magnet.
