Great for keeping dust down
This works great. It keeps the sanding dust to a minimum. I needed to adjust the vacuum blockers on the unit to allow it to move freely on the ceiling. Just as a test, I tried a pole mounted pad at the same time as this. In two strokes, I was covered in dust. This thing vacuums all that dust up. Highly recommend for drywall repairs.

The sander removes the dust well, however sanding with a sanding screen is a huge struggle
First of all, sanding with a sanding screen is much much harder than with a sandpaper. So most negative comments like the sander flipping, dragging, etc. are all true but the sanding screen is the one to blame. You can even shut off your vacuum and still have all the said problems, i even tried 220 grit screens but the results were all the same. Is this the sander's fault? I don't thinks so, but at the same time I'm unhappy with the purchase.

Works OK
Little disappointed as it should have an articulated attachment. But definitely keeps the dust down and I use with a water attachment to help cut down on the dust sucked into the vacuum

Must use Richards perforated sandpaper for no scratches
I recently purchased this Vacuum Sander for tackling the daunting task of smoothing out popcorn ceilings and skim coat applications, and I couldn't be more thrilled with the results!First and foremost, you must use Richards perforated sandpaper. It made a world of difference. It not only expedited the sanding process but also ensured a consistently smooth finish. The holes in the sandpaper effectively sucked up dust and debris into the attached vacuum, keeping the workspace remarkably clean. This feature alone saved me a significant amount of time and effort in post-sanding cleanup. The regular sanding screens at the big box stores would cause scratches and I had to redo the skimming.Overall, the Vacuum Sander with Richards Perforated Sandpaper has become an indispensable tool in my DIY arsenal. It not only exceeded my expectations in terms of performance but also made the entire sanding process more efficient and enjoyable. If you're looking for a reliable and user-friendly solution for popcorn ceiling and skim coat projects, I highly recommend giving this vacuum sander a try—it's a true game-changer!

Poor Design for a Sander
Bad design - very heavy and cumbersome for a ceiling sander. The boot is tight and doesn't flex well which leads the sanding foot to catch and flip while in use, gouging the plaster. I like the hand sander for the walls, but I'm returning this product because it doesn't work for walls or ceiling.

Defective and missing parts
Bought this after seeing good reviews. It showed up missing a washer which was not allowing one side of the sanding screen to be secured down. I had to add my own washer in order to keep it tight. It also only came with one adaptor for a shop vac. The instructions and description make it sound like it would come with multiple, so I had to duct tape it together in order for the hose to hook up to my shop vac. Also it really only works in one position and that is sanding with the screen vertical to the direction you are pushing/pulling. When the screen is horizontal it collapses in it self.Needless to say if all of those issues were not issues then in theory this would work. However, going forward I will just rent an electric drywall sander from the store for the few times I'll need it. The particular item I received here was not worth it.

Surpasses expectations
This product is beyond what i expected as far as it's ability to suck up dust. I can say it probably prevents about 99 percent of dust from getting away. I used it for sanding a ceiling. 2 down sides that are minor, using a rigid shop vac makes it difficult at first because it get stuck to the ceiling so you needto adjust the suction with a dial by the handle but may require a few strokes so paper gets a bit worn down. It is hard to sand side to side on the longer side of the sander. I haven't figured a way to overcome that, but it may be due to angle while sanding ceiling. Other than that, this works excellent. Skip buying the pole, im sure most of you looking probably have a good quality paint pole. I used minimal drop clothes and found zero dust on uncovered surfaces.
