So now I've tried Robusta
With Arabica beans pretty much the standard in the U.S., I was curious to try Robusta. These have a reputation for being more bitter, and also have more caffeine. The caffeine was a neutral feature for me, but I wondered about the flavor.I tried Trung Nguyen coffee, which is a blend of Arabica and Robusta. Liked that, so I wanted to see what pure Robusta would be like, and found the Bach brand. Not bad, not great. So far I've made it with a pour over cone (not a Vietnamese "phin"), an aero press, a French press, and a moka pot. Got the best results with the moka pot, making it full espresso strength, not Americano.Update. I also ground it super fine and made Turkish coffee with it. Again, not bad.It does seem a little more bitter than I'm used to, but not horribly so. I drink my coffee black, and that's not going to change, but this one might benefit from some sweetened condensed milk, which I understand is the Vietnamese way. Even black, though, it's acceptable, just not great. Having finished the first of the two 8.8 ounce bags, I may try blending some of the second one with other beans before grinding and see how that goes. Anyway, I'll use it up.Worth trying if you're curious, and not a bad price for the amount.

Amazing flavored Coffee!
So we have a Vietnamese Exchange student. He told us our coffee...tastes like water. So I was on the hunt for coffee. I saw this one and thought, this might do trick! So I purchased it. When it came in he smelt it through the vent and said OH MY GOD....It smells like home. So right away I knew it was perfect. So, I Ground some up and used our new french coffee press to make it because I knew it wouldn't be right through the brewer. And he loves it! He just sits there with his coffee smiling. Now from the American side. If you use a brewer I think it would be less strong but even as a strong coffee it is amazing. Simply amazing. It is so smooth. I added a little creamer and sugar to mellow it a tad because it is a new flavor of coffee for us but I highly recommend this coffee if you are looking for a strong coffee with some great flavor! I highly recommend.I know a lot of my reviews I have been able to get a discount on an item, this one was full price and I will pay for it again. We have our student for 10 months that is a LOT of coffee!

you better make sure you still have a Pulse
If this doesn't wake you up in the morning, you better make sure you still have a Pulse... Holy Caffeine Jolt Batman! I've always wanted to try 100% Robusta, but was a little scared after reading horror stories about it tasking like Burnt Tires. Nothing was further from the truth. It is certainly different than Arabica, but the flavor was actually quite nice. I brewed this as Espresso in my Rancilio Silvia machine and really enjoyed it. Many Italy "Espresso" roast coffees are blended with Robusta to give them a little punch.I do hope this will soon be available in larger bags (5 pound bags would be great).. We went through this small bag in just a few days. A 2oz double-shot of this made my hands shake, and heart raced a little. Not sure that I'd recommend it to anyone with blood pressure, heart problems, or intolerance to caffeine. It's a pretty potent stimulant.

Buy this now.
OMG, where have you been all my life. I knew this coffee was going to be something different once I opened the bag a got a whiff of the beans. It didnt smell like your average coffee. Brewing made my entire kitchen smell so good, I was practically drooling when I finally made a cup. The flavor is so bold but not in a bad bitter way. Just enough acidity to assure you that you are drinking coffee. I made a 20oz cup and although I did use cream & sugar, I would have been just as happy drinking this black. One of the few coffees that I can say that about. This will be on my list from now on. Btw the way my fiance is mad because this coffee ruined her so called top shelf coffee. On the downside, this is a bit on the pricey side. But if you are a lover of coffee it is well worth it.

Okay, but I prefer others
First, I really like Vietnamese coffee. Because of the French influence there, it tends to be full of flavor. This brand was not so flavorful in my opinion. I bought some of the Chestbrew Medium Roast Grizzly Bear coffee at the same time. I like it much better. I have no financial interest or connection with either company. I am just a professor who likes his coffee very much. I think the Chestbrew Medium Roast Vietnamese Grizzly Bear coffee is more distinctive and tasty. I will try using a larger volume of this coffee in a cold brew.

A Mixed Bag
I have ordered this produce twice so far, receiving a total of 4 packages. The first two had shiny, oily beans, which resulted in a rich mocha flavor and was the best coffee I have ever had. Based on that experience, I ordered a second shipment, expecting a similar experience. Instead, it contained dry, oil-less beans, which resulted in a smooth but otherwise nondescript cup of coffee. Based on the mixed experience, I'll give it a solid 4 stars, and will probably buy it again.

Old taste/not worth it
I rarely leave bad reviews but this coffee is terrible. To me it tasted like it was stored in a moldy cellar. For one it has a 1 year stamp on it for shelf life. No coffee should sit on a shelf for more than a few weeks. The coffee literally tasted moldy. I am very disappointed because I’ve had some really good Vietnamese coffee. Talk about a let down when I opened the package to a mildew smell. I still brewed a cup hoping it would taste better but it didn’t. Terrible experience, I’m currently walking to buy different coffee so I can throw this stuff away.I see good reviews on here so maybe I got the bad bag.

If you need strong coffee, you need this
I've bought quite a few different bags of Robusta beans, some came in black bags with images of death and skeletons, which is kinda weird 'cause I don't want it to kill me, just keep me going a while longer, but Bach ain't just for the stereo anymore. Great flavor, high caffenation, and recently roasted, which is this coffee drinkers trifecta. Well done Bach, I'll be back for more.
