Five Little Monkeys Shopping for School Board Book (A Five Little Monkeys Story)

our 3 year old grandson loved these books. we now have 6 of the series. when he opened them on Christmas he as done opening presents. We had to stop and read them to him. Since Christmas I bet we have read them at least 10 times.

Doesn’t rhyme but 4 1/2 year old grandson liked story and repetition. Liked shopping for school clothes idea snd anything with the 5 little monkeys is a hit!

I wish the author of this series had put age recommendations on the covers of these books. My 2.5 year old daughter absolutely LOVES the 'jumping on the bed' and the 'sitting in a tree' books. It was a huge disappointment when we opened this one together and it was a small-print NOVEL focusing on elementary math. These books vary so wildly in which stages of development they cater to. It's hard to know which ones to buy or not buy.

I have read other books in this series with my three year old daughter, but this one really takes the monkey counting thing to the next level. Some monkeys go away, other monkeys join the group, and before you know it your little one is learning to add and subtract without a formal lesson! I always had to preface the book by telling my daughter that of course kids should never go where a grownup cannot see them in the store.

This book is brilliant, as the Five Little Monkeys books tend to be. But seriously this one is SO brilliant, because it provides a hilarious way to learn mathematical concepts. My daughter basically learned addition and subtraction from this book, and reads it obsessively due to all the adorable "monkey mix-ups."
